Happy Independance Day from the Chorus of the Genesee! I'd like
to start by thanking everyone who came to our Annual Show in May.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! We're already in the
planning stages for our 2002 show. We'll be hosting the 1998
International Championship Quartet: Revival.
In the meantime, the Chorus is travelling to Nashville, Tennessee
to compete in the International Chorus Contest on Saturday. If
you have the Windows Media player installed, you might even catch
the contest online! Visit
http://www.spebsqsa.org/2001/webcast.htm for details.
When we get back, we're in for a busy Summer with performances in
Charlotte, Sodus, and Chautauqua. I'm sure of the dates, but I
don't have exact details for all of these performances. I'll
send out updates as I get new information.
Please note that the Chorus will not be rehearsing at Harmony
House Tuesday, July 3rd or Tuesday, July 17th. If you would like
to visit the Chorus in July, please try us on the 10th, 24th, or
31st.
Barbershop on the Beach
Charlotte Beach will once again host Barbershop at the Beach,
a free, all-day concert. Male and female choruses and quartets
from all over New York will be there. Seating is available on
benches, or bring your own blankets and lawn chairs. You can
even make a picnic of it!
* Sunday, July 22, 2001 starting at 1:00 p.m. The Chorus of
the Genesee will start sometime after 7:00 p.m.
* Groups will be singing from the gazebo at Charlotte Beach
on Lake Ontario. Take I-390 north to Lake Ontario Parkway
east. At the end of the parkway, turn left.
Sodus Bay Lighthouse
The Chorus of the Genesee has been invited to return to the
Sodus Bay Lighthouse for a free, Sunday performance. The lawn
has ample room for chairs and blankets.
* Sunday, August 12, 2001 at 3:00 p.m.
* The Lighthouse is located at 7606 North Ontario St / Sodus
Point NY 14555.
Chautauqua Barbershop Harmony Parade
Every year, the Chautauqua Institution hosts a barbershop
concert in the Amphitheater. The concert features some of the
best choruses and quartets from Western New York and Northern
Pennsylvania.
* Sunday, August 19, 2001 at 2:30 p.m.
* Admission to the Institution grounds is free on Sundays,
but parking is $4 per car.
Normally at this point in the message, I invite you to get more
information on our web site. The Genesee Gateway, the volunteer
service that hosts our web site, has been experiencing technical
difficulties which prevent me from updating the Chorus's web
site. I would like to update the site with the information
below, but will not be able to do so until GGW is back on its
feet. Thank you for your understanding!
