Jul 22: Barbershop on the Beach

The Summer is really heating up, now! The Chorus of the Genesee
is back from Nashville and ready to sing. Barbershop on the
Beach is just a few days away, and the Sodus and Chautauqua
perfromances aren't far behind. Hope to see you there!

Barbershop on the Beach

Charlotte Beach will once again host Barbershop at the Beach,
a free, all-day concert. Male and female choruses and quartets
from all over New York will be there. Seating is available on
benches, or bring your own blankets and lawn chairs. You can
even make a picnic of it! This year's performers include four
Rochester choruses and For Heaven's Sake, 1996 Harmony Queens.

* Sunday, July 22, 2001 starting at 1:00 p.m. The Chorus of
the Genesee will start at approximately 6:30. Chapter
quartets Pier 4, Notably Yours, Snickers, and Fever Pitch
will perform earlier in the day with the earliest of those
being at 4:00.
* Groups will be singing from the gazebo at Charlotte Beach
on Lake Ontario. Take I-390 north to Lake Ontario Parkway
east. At the end of the parkway, turn left.

Sodus Bay Lighthouse

The Chorus of the Genesee has been invited to return to the
Sodus Bay Lighthouse for a free, Sunday performance. The lawn
has ample room for chairs and blankets.

* Sunday, August 12, 2001 at 3:00 p.m.
* The Lighthouse is located at 7606 North Ontario St / Sodus
Point NY 14555.

Chautauqua Barbershop Harmony Parade

Every year, the Chautauqua Institution hosts a barbershop
concert in the Amphitheater. The concert features some of the
best choruses and quartets from Western New York and Northern
Pennsylvania.

* Sunday, August 19, 2001 at 2:30 p.m.
* Admission to the Institution grounds is free on Sundays,
but parking is $4 per car.

Normally at this point in the message, I invite you to get more
information on our web site. The Genesee Gateway, the volunteer
service that hosts our web site, has been experiencing technical
difficulties which prevent me from updating the Chorus's web
site. I would like to update the site with the information
above, but will not be able to do so until GGW is back on its
feet. Thank you for your understanding!
