Happy Mother's Day! As always, The Chorus of the Genesee will be
putting on its biggest performance of the year the second
Saturday in May. This year we'll be presenting "My Old Home
Town". Our guest quartet will be Max Q, four guys with five
quartet gold medals and more than a dozen chorus gold medals
between them. We're especially proud to have them because the
lead's father was a director of the Chorus of the Genesee.

this Summer. One of the members, Tony DeRosa, sang with the

Whew! The Chorus of the Genesee is back from Portland, and our
Summer is just getting started. We'd like to thank all of you
who came to our show in May. We hope you had as much fun as we
did!
I apologize for the deviation from the usual format, but I wanted
to make sure everyone heard about this event! Barbershop at the
Beach is this Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 8:00. It's a
collection of choruses and quartets from the three major
barbershop organizations: SPEBSQSA, Sweet Adelines and Harmony,
Inc. This year, we'll even have For Heaven's Sake, a gold-medal
quartet from Watertown.
The Chorus of the Genesee will be singing shortly after 7:00,
but several chapter quartets, including Pier Four, Reunion,
Cornerstone, and Fever Pitch will also be singing throughout the
day.
The location is Charlotte Beach, which is on Lake Ontario just
west of where the Genesee empties into the lake. It's at the
north end of Lake Avenue. I've been assured that there's parking

difficulties which prevent me from updating the Chorus's web
site. I would like to update the site with the information
above, but will not be able to do so until GGW is back on its
feet. Thank you for your understanding!
Happy Independance Day from the Chorus of the Genesee! I'd like
to start by thanking everyone who came to our Annual Show in May.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! We're already in the
planning stages for our 2002 show. We'll be hosting the 1998
International Championship Quartet: Revival.
In the meantime, the Chorus is travelling to Nashville, Tennessee
to compete in the International Chorus Contest on Saturday. If
you have the Windows Media player installed, you might even catch
the contest online! Visit
http://www.spebsqsa.org/2001/webcast.htm for details.
When we get back, we're in for a busy Summer with performances in
Charlotte, Sodus, and Chautauqua. I'm sure of the dates, but I
don't have exact details for all of these performances. I'll
send out updates as I get new information.
Please note that the Chorus will not be rehearsing at Harmony
House Tuesday, July 3rd or Tuesday, July 17th. If you would like
to visit the Chorus in July, please try us on the 10th, 24th, or

Hello! I'm very sorry that it has been so long since the last
update. Unfortunately, I missed an event in there: the Seneca
Land District Spring Convention. I apologize to anyone who was
unable to attend because I wasn't on the ball. On the bright
side, the Chorus won the title of 2001 District Champions.
We're gearing up for our Annual Show, and this year's promises to
be great. After that, we'll be working on our contest package to
get it in top shape for the International Convention in July,
this year held in Nashville, Tennessee.
Annual Show: What's in a Name?
The Chorus of the Genesee pulls out all the stops for its
biggest performance of the year. We're proud to have nine
chapter quartets on the program this year. This year's
featured guest quartet is Freestyle, a District Champion
quartet from California. They were semi-finalists in the last
international competition, and they're among the funniest
quartets you'll ever hear. They recently performed in
Jamestown, and the audience wouldn't let them leave the stage!

conjunction with Image City Sound, a Sweet Adelines chorus. We
will also be doing our traditional caroling, of which I'll be
sure to keep you informed.
