DENVER’S START! HEART WALK

Through Start!, the American Heart Association encourages everyone in the Denver area and their employers to live longer, heart-healthy lives through walking. It celebrates the benefits of increased physical activity and provides you with resources to incorporate walking into your lifestyle or the workplace. As the American Heart Association’s signature fund-raising event, the Start! Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun family environment.
This year more than 1 million walkers will participate in more than 450 events, raising funds to save lives from America’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers — heart disease and stroke.

The Heart Walk in the Denver metro area is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2009. We are asking you and your performance/music group to participate by volunteering your talent for the walk. We are in need of music groups to perform at selected areas along the route. There will be booths
with free food, drinks, water, health screenings and prizes at the main area.  The Walk starts at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, 1245 Champa Street, Denver, CO 80204, goes through lower downtown (or Lodo) and back to DPAC.

We had wonderful compliments about the music last year, and we are asking your group to be a part of the fight against Heart disease and Stroke this year! Please contact me if your group is interested in volunteering for this event.

A little piece from Dr Weill.com:

Musicians' Brain Waves Are Also in Tune

New German research indicates that when musicians play together, they think together as well.

Study author Ulman Lindenberger of the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin and his co-investigators looked at electrical activity in the brains of eight pairs of guitarists. They monitored patterns of brain waves as the musicians played a short jazz-fusion melody together up to 60 times, and published their findings in the journal BMC Neuroscience.

The study reported that the frontal and central regions of the guitarists’ brains synchronized to a high degree. But, more surprisingly, the temporal and parietal regions also showed significant synchronization in more than half of the pairs. These regions may be involved in simply enjoying the music, researchers suggested.

To my mind, this study highlights one of the great joys of playing music, one voiced by many musicians: a sense of self-transcendence. Playing music together creates a rare chance to step outside of ourselves and our small concerns and join our minds wholeheartedly with others in creating something no individual could make alone. Seen in this light, creating beautiful music is simply a wonderful byproduct of a larger reward – connecting deeply with other human beings.

Editor’s note: I found it very amusing that one of the top selling shows on Broadway (sell-outs) is a musical called “Rock of Ages”. It’s a play about a rock band in the 80's and uses a lot of music from that era. It takes place on the Sunset Strip and is complete with big hair, spandex, and scantily clad beautiful young women – sort of a cross between “Hair” and “Grease”. LOL!

Flash! “Rock of Ages” has been nominated for 5 Tonys including Best Musical!

I don't know about you folks out there, but I wouldn't miss at least one of these two a cappella events in central Denver, the site of part of the most significant pop music development in this part of the country.
I first came to Denver, on business, when the Allstars and the establishment celebrated below was just coming along. The promise of its kind of vocal music development excited me to move to the area as soon as I could cast off ties to my rather lucrative employ back east.
It was then a blow to discover, upon that fateful 1997 move, that "A Cappella's" had preceded me in retirement and I would have to enjoy the West in other ways. The Allstars have provided one of those important ways ever since.
Does it fascinate anyone else that Norm, the Allstars' sort of "lone arranger" has a name like "Silver?" <g>

17th Ave. Allstars to Celebrate in 'yore-part' Harmony!
By Bill Husted
The Denver Post
Posted: 05/05/2009 12:30:00 AM MDT

The 17th Avenue Allstars will be joined
by alumni, special guests and others.
(Special to The Denver Post)

The 17th Avenue Allstars are celebrating their 20th anniversary this month — and that makes me feel old and odd.

The current harmonizers, alumni and some other groups will return May 14 and 21 to the scene of the crime: the legendary Acappella's at 1336 E. 17th Ave. (though now it's Pasquini's), across the street from Strings.

Former owner John Hersh, who now resides in Eleuthera, Bahamas, where he runs the very reputable Bahama House Inn, probably can't make it — and most likely wouldn't survive it.

Norm Silver is the lone original member of the 17th Avenue Allstars. But past members, including Jake Schroeder (now with Opie Gone Bad) and big baritone Robert Johnson, will be back for the reunion. But La Tanya Hall, who was Miss Colorado as well as a singer in the group, is on tour that week.

Cool Shooz (a.k.a. The Fairlanes), Dirty Blondes and The Diners should also make the scene.

Acappella's was the first place I ever heard the Nacho Men, who have gone on to be one of Colorado's best oldies bands. Let's hope they show up. Oh, we all had some ridiculous fun in Acappella's. As I always said, you could get anything you wanted or needed at Acappella's, except a marriage counselor.

Tix are $8 in advance at 17thavenueallstars.com or $10 at the door. Silver has located the old Acappella's sign, which they'll put up someplace.
"You gotta get back here and have a beer and reminisce a little bit," says Silver.

We're remiss in not letting you all know that our Rocky Mountain Harmony Sweepstakes 2009 Champs were well received in the National Harmony Sweepstakes competition last Saturday in San Francisco and that a young and talented member of our own unique "MouthBeats"  'vocal percussion quartet' won the international award for Most Innovative Composition, named appropriately: "The Future Part 2".

Now composer and long standing talent in the Denver Metro area, award winner Richard Steighner has been a member of several well known a cappella ensembles in the Denver Metro area since his days honing his skills in college groups at CU-Boulder, including award winner "Mile 21."

We're all proud that "MouthBeats" made a significant contribution to the May 16 championships and will be part of the Colorado and national scene for some time to come.

Congratulations, especially to Richard and to fellow MouthBeats members Tim Jones, Matt Murphy and Chris Schenk, for livening things up at the Nationals. I hope we'll get to hear more from them and the other groups they perform with in the coming season.

Hi all,

One of my favorite vocal groups on the present musical scene is m-pact, ever since I first heard them at the 39th annual Spring Sing in '96 here in Colorado. They were on their way to the National Harmony Sweepstakes which they won . . hands down.

As I recall, they were a young quintet, mostly grads of NCU in Greeley, a music program under the leadership of Gene Aiken, whom I knew of and admired long before Bev and I moved to Boulder.

At Estes Park that year, they knocked me over with their talent and their arrangements. Since then, they moved to the West Coast where their approach to intricate jazz interpretations are more acceptable. I've become a 'groupy' and have been able to catch them coming through on many occasions; one of the most memorable for me was again at Spring Sing '06, when they (now a sextet) celebrated their 10th anniversary ten years after Spring Singers first heard them. Oh sure, most of the personnel have changed over -- more than once. But the originals still there have succeeded in finding new talent that understands what they're all about and seem to fit right in with the format.

I suppose intricate and unexpected harmonies are not everyone's cup of tea, but I get wrapped up in their somewhat convoluted approach, especially in older standards that we tend to hear only in classic Sinatra and extravagant Streisand arrangements. Yet they can surprise you with a song like "Won't You Be My Neighbor" (Mr. Roberts), "Over the Rainbow" and "Night and Day." Oh yes, they can also invent, compose and 'percuss' with the absolute best of the pop groups, so they constantly innovate with really cool, never mis-stated R&R, and raucous-as-you-want Blues or hip tunes like "Higher and Higher" and "Still the One."

So, why did I send this story on to you? First, to tag you to listen to some of their stuff and secondly, to get you to tell them they HAVE to include the new (to me at least) rendition of "Funny Valentine" on their forthcoming CD. Why? Well I guess because it's my personal favorite pop tune of all time. It must be: a) my wife (a group singer and band vocalist for XX years) sings it wonderfully; b) I found a great vocalist (actually she played tenor sax) in the Army Band I administered to sing a cool version of it at our wedding in Heidelberg in 1956, and c) I sang it myself on many occasions including our 50th anniversary 3 years ago.

So, I'm asking you to go to http://www.m-pact.com/multimedia.cfm, page down to the first video: m-pact performing "Valentine" live, and enjoy this inventive yet still faithful version. Then if you have a chance, help persuade them somehow (I don't care: money, threats, gigs) to include this tune in the new album they are now putting together.

That way everyone with an ear for vocal jazz will benefit a few months from now when it comes out in pristine form -- and I can play it at home and in the car every day possible!

And you can too.

Hi everyone!

In addition to our plethora of summer shows, we have two very special performances coming up in a few weeks that we don't want you to miss, one in Boulder and one in Denver! We are hosting some amazing guest groups from around the WORLD that we'd like to share with all of you!!!

FACE with MOIRA SMILEY AND VOCO - BOULDER THEATER
Those of you who were at this show last summer will agree that it was a magical evening of awesome music. Moira Smiley and VOCO, from LA, are the Harmony Sweepstakes National Champions from 2007 (you could also say they're the group that beat Face that year - we came in second!). Their style is one that's all their own, with a mixture of folk music, gospel, and world music. Much of their repertoire is a cappella, but they will also bring out cello, accordion, and banjo as part of their act which makes for an amazing show.

The concert will once again take place at Boulder Theater and we packed it last time. Tickets are selling fast at http://www.BoulderTheater.com with special reserved sections up front, as well as general admission in the rest of the house.

What: Face and VOCO
Where: Boulder Theater (14th and Spruce, Boulder CO)
Date: Thursday, June 18
Time: 7:30 pm
Price: $24 reserved, $18.50 GA, $12.50 Student/Senior
Tickets: http://www.BoulderTheater.com

FACE with NATURALLY 7 - SOILED DOVE UNDERGROUND
Then 10 days after that fun night, we are going to share the stage with the inestimable Naturally 7, the internationally touring vocal sensation that has appeared on Leno (er...you know before Leno quit) and Ellen. Their style is also unique, based in more of an urban R&B, jazz and gospel sound that they call "vocal play." Their show rocks.

For this show, join us at Soiled Dove Underground in the Lowry area of Denver. Being a smaller venue, we fully expect it to sell out, at which point we're discussing opening a matinee performance on the same afternoon.

Unlike most Soiled Dove concerts, THIS WILL BE AN ALL-AGES SHOW!

What: Face and Naturally 7
Where: Soiled Dove Underground (1st and Quebec, Denver CO)
Date: Sunday, June 28
Time: 7:00 pm
Price: $20-$25 (ALL AGES)
Tickets: http://www.SoiledDove.com

And if you can't make either of these too, don't miss our healthy smattering of summer festivals and concerts series. Keep up to date with our website calendar:
http://www.FaceVocalBand.com/calendar.html

Have a great summer - hope to see you all soon!

Cheers! - Mark

My quartet, Baseline, has been quite active for the past few years, but due to a
move out of state our melody singer (aka lead in barbershop circles), David
Zoetewey, has left the quartet. So we will be holding auditions for anyone
interested in joining our quartet. We are looking for a motivated, solid singer
who enjoys performing and learning challenging music quickly. We have a diverse
repertoire and will want to get back to performance quality within a few months.

We rehearse weekly and sing a mix of barbershop, contemporary, gospel, Doo-Wop
and anything else that takes our fancy...

So if you love to sing and are looking for a dedicated, exceptional quartet
opportunity, please contact me via email and we will schedule an audition.

Hi everyone!

Thanks to everyone who came out to support us in Vegas - it was an awesome trip. We keep learning more, and meeting more people every time we go.

Here's a show coming up that we're really excited about:
Show of hands if you've ever heard Face at Boulder's RedFish Brewhouse. Keep your hands up if you were at our first public show there, opening for LoDo Airband, when we didn't even have a name yet (June 17, 2002 for you trivia junkies). Many of you will remember how, as our audiences grew, we had to stop playing there.

Well, RedFish has been sold, and is now Boulder Draft House. The new owners have redesigned the place, making TONS more room for audiences, so we're excited to say that on September 3, we're going back to where it all began! Come join us and reminisce about the old days of Face!

We're trying something new for this show too - advance ticket sales! Not through a box office, no extra fees - just go to our website, click on buttons, choose numbers, we'll even mail them to you if you order them soon enough!

Here are all the details, including the link for ticket purchases:
What: Face at Boulder Draft House
Date: Thursday, September 3, 2009
Time: 8:00 pm
Where: 2027 13th St, Boulder CO
Price: $10
Tickets: http://www.FaceVocalBand.com/drafthouse.html

And yes, of course you can still come see us at any of our remaining free festivals:
Millennium Harvest House Aug 21, FlatIrons Aug 27, Southglenn Mall Aug 28, and for the first time ever, Taste of Colorado on Labor Day (Mon Sept 7). Details for all our shows can be found on our website's calendar:

RIDES AND RODS LOOKING FOR BANDS FOR A BENEFIT
The Rides and Rods Weekend will benefit Autism Speaks. They are looking for bands to donate their time to the cause. There will be a lot of exposure though.
They need a cover band for their Wheels and Heels (black tie and leather) Ball on Friday, September 11th. The demographic is local celebrities, news and probably age 35+ crowd.
Then they are looking for more bands to play on the streets of Central City. They will have a stage and the street will be shut down.  One band to play at a time.  The demo graphic will range from age 21 and up, but the majority of the people will be age 30 and up.  This will be motorcycle riders, hot rod drivers, and vintage car drivers.

DURANGO SONGWRITERS EXPO
The DSE will be held again in Colorado Springs, October 8-10th, at the Double Tree Hotel  Convention Center near the World Arena (south end of CS) (800-222-8733). If you are a songwriter or want to know more about the songwriting end of the music industry, you seriously need to attend this event.
On My Soapbox: I’ve attended this event twice, and I’m not even a Songwriter! But I can certainly see how networking with professional songwriters and label reps would help you immensely! To all of COMBO’s songwriters – You are so lucky to have an event like this in Colorado. Most of these dedicated songwriter events take place in Nashville (i.e., NSAI – Nashville Songwriters) and other cities where expenses for you to attend would be budget-busting. This one will be held at a convention facility only an hour’s drive from Denver. And I’d be willing to bet that a lot of you have family or friends in the CO Spgs area that you could camp out with for a few nights to save some bucks if you needed.
The people that you meet and learn from at this event are top-notch. Many of them have had million selling records, i.e., Chuck Cannon who wrote “American Soldier” for Toby Keith, and Sarah Buxton who’s written for Taylor Swift and Kelley Pickler. You’ll get to talk to these people on a personal basis. Last year, out of the blue, Carlene Carter showed up to sing and play for the attendees. You would have needed a serious VIP Backstage pass to get to meet these people otherwise. The event covers all styles of music – not just country but those are the names I remember offhand.
Stop wasting time if you’re serious about making it as a songwriter – whether as a songwriter only or as a performing singer/songwriter/musician. Get some help, great advice, and some direction in where to go next. Attend this event!! It will be worth your time and money.

ANGEL VENTURA IS SENTENCED TO 2 ½ YEARS IN PRISON IN SURINAM
(This article is as it appears on the net. The basis of the case is that Angel Ventura booked a professional impersonator (Trina Johnson-Finn) for his show in Surinam, claiming that the real Toni Braxton would be appearing. In spite of contracts clearly stating that Ms. Johnson-Finn was an impersonator, she ended up spending three months in jail for her part in the fraud. Lawyers and government people were finally able to intervene on her behalf and secured her release. Moral of the story: Be very careful in appearing in out-of-the-country shows].
8/18/09
Paramaribo - The show promoter Angel Ventura was yesterday found guilty of fraud and sentenced to two and a half years in prison. The requirement was three years. His ex - concubine Signet Sampson is the requirement of the public prosecutor acquitted. In February 2009 was by show promoter Ventura announced that the world famous singer Toni Braxton on February 27 would be appearing in Suriname. By Ventura action cards [tickets] were offered for sale to the public and agreements with various companies and individuals for the provision of services. The advent of the artist was also advertised through the media and announced on posters in many places in the city were displayed. On these posters was the prominent figure of the artist Toni Braxton made.
On February 26 it was on that day in Surinam arrived Trina Johnson-Finn at our international airport before the people gathered there announced as the manager of Toni Braxton. Johnson-Finn was the press to answer and assured them the arrival of Braxton. These images were broadcast that evening on television. On the evening of February 27 was the audience in the sold out Anthony Nesty Hal vergast in an action known Surinamese music formations. Just after midnight were finally Toni Braxton announced the enthusiastic audience. It appears indeed a woman on the weak-lit stage, which started with the performance of a familiar song. After a few moments created turmoil in the hall as it is clear that both the appearance as the voice of the lady on stage differs from the appearance and voice of the world famous Toni Braxton.
When it penetrates the public that it is not the artist Toni Braxton, but another person on stage, became the wife on stage with bekogeld objects are made to damage the room and the bar was plundered. The woman on stage was for her own safety by the hired security away from the angry crowd. In the subsequent hours calls throughout Suriname understanding that part of the community under false pretenses is to move substantial amounts of money to stand for a performance of an artist who never appeared. This awareness will cause great outrage in the Surinamese community.
Trina Johnson-Finn is earlier this year acquitted of fraud. The court found that there were too many ambiguities in the case. In addition, the thickness right speaker that ignorance about the world imitation this case was loaded with too much emotion. The tensions were not necessary.

(Editor’s note: In honor of Mr. Paul, we will be presenting a special “Tribute to Les Paul” at our October 18th meeting. We’ll have some very special guests and more. Mark that date on your calendars now).
LES PAUL, RENOWNED GUITARIST & INVENTOR, DIES AT AGE 94
Les Paul, the virtuoso guitarist and inventor whose solid-body electric guitar and recording studio innovations changed the course of 20th-century popular music, died Thursday, August 6th in White Plains, N.Y. He was 94.
The cause was complications of pneumonia, the Gibson Guitar Corporation and his family announced.
Mr. Paul was a remarkable musician as well as a tireless tinkerer. He played guitar alongside leading prewar jazz and pop musicians from Louis Armstrong to Bing Crosby. In the 1930s he began experimenting with guitar amplification, and by 1941 he had built what was probably the first solid-body electric guitar, although there are other claimants. With his guitar and the vocals of his wife, Mary Ford, he used overdubbing, multitrack recording and new electronic effects to create a string of hits in the 1950s.
Mr. Paul’s style encompassed the twang of country music, the harmonic richness of jazz and, later, the bite of rock ’n’ roll. For all his technological impact, though, he remained a down-home performer whose main goal, he often said, was to make people happy.
Mr. Paul, whose original name was Lester William Polsfuss, was born on June 9, 1915, in Waukesha, Wis. His childhood piano teacher wrote to his mother, “Your boy, Lester, will never learn music.” But he picked up harmonica, guitar and banjo by the time he was a teenager and started playing with country bands in the Midwest. In Chicago he performed for radio broadcasts on WLS and led the house band at WJJD; he billed himself as the Wizard of Waukesha, Hot Rod Red and Rhubarb Red.
His interest in gadgets came early. At the age of 10 he devised a harmonica holder from a coat hanger. Soon afterward he made his first amplified guitar by opening the back of a Sears acoustic model and inserting, behind the strings, the pickup from a dismantled Victrola. With the record player on, the acoustic guitar became an electric one. Later, he built his own pickup from ham radio earphone parts and assembled a recording machine using a Cadillac flywheel and the belt from a dentist’s drill.
From country music Mr. Paul moved into jazz, influenced by players like Django Reinhardt and Eddie Lang, who were using amplified hollow-body guitars to play hornlike single-note solo lines. He formed the Les Paul Trio in 1936 and moved to New York, where he was heard regularly on Fred Waring’s radio show from 1938 to 1941.
In 1940 or 1941 — the exact date is unknown — , Mr. Paul made his guitar breakthrough. Seeking to create electronically sustained notes on the guitar, he attached strings and two pickups to a wooden board with a guitar neck. “The log,” as he called it, if not the first solid-body electric guitar, became the most influential one.
“You could go out and eat and come back and the note would still be sounding,” Mr. Paul once said.
The odd-looking instrument drew derision when he first played it in public, so he hid the works inside a conventional-looking guitar. But the log was a conceptual turning point. With no acoustic resonance of its own, it was designed to generate an electronic signal that could be amplified and processed — the beginning of a sonic transformation of the world’s music.
Mr. Paul was drafted in 1942 and worked in California for the Armed Forces Radio Service, accompanying Rudy Vallee, Kate Smith and others. When he was discharged in 1943, he was hired as a staff musician for NBC radio in Los Angeles. His trio toured with the Andrews Sisters and backed Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby, with whom he recorded the hit “It’s Been a Long, Long Time” in 1945. Crosby encouraged Mr. Paul to build his own recording studio, and so he did, in his garage in Los Angeles.
There he experimented with recording techniques, using them to create not realistic replicas of a performance but electronically enhanced fabrications. Toying with his mother’s old Victrola had shown him that changing the speed of a recording could alter both pitch and timbre. He could record at half-speed and replay the results at normal speed, creating the illusion of superhuman agility. He altered instrumental textures through microphone positioning and reverberation. Technology and studio effects, he realized, were instruments themselves.
He also noticed that by playing along with previous recordings, he could become a one-man ensemble. As early as his 1948 hit “Lover,” he made elaborate, multilayered recordings, using two acetate disc machines, which demanded that each layer of music be captured in a single take. >From discs he moved to magnetic tape, and in the late 1950s he built the first eight-track multitrack recorder. Each track could be recorded and altered separately, without affecting the others. The machine ushered in the modern recording era.
In 1947 Mr. Paul teamed up with Colleen Summers, who had been singing with Gene Autry’s band. He changed her name to Mary Ford, a name found in a telephone book.

PUBLIC RADIO SIGNS ROYALTY DEAL WITH SOUNDEXCHANGE
On August 3, SoundExchange announced four new streaming royaltyagreements with webcaster groups: college radio, noncommercial religious broadcasters, Sirius XM and a fourth group to be
named later. The fourth group turned out to be public radio, as the Corporation For Public Broadcasting has inked a new royalty agreement with SoundExchange.
The CPB will pay out at least $2.4 million to SoundExchange to cover 2011-2015 in a deal covering CPB qualified stations, National Public Radio member stations and National Federation of Community Broadcasters participant member stations (along with NPR, American Public Media, Public Radio International and the Public Radio Exchange). The amount could increase if “usage exceeds expectations.” SoundExchange notes that the rate is below market value” due to public radio’s “special public service mission and non-commercial nature.”

Hi everyone! As always, we have a ton to tell you all about, so I’ll try to be concise about all the excitement we have coming up. I hope you take a chance to at least scan through all of the amazing shows we have coming up. Each one is special for one reason or another, so we hope you find one that tickles your fancy and that we’ll see you soon! I've got the quick and dirty details conveniently placed in little info-blocks at the bottom of this message. You can always find info at our website calendar as well: http://www.FaceVocalBand.com/calendar.html VOTE FOR US FOR BEST LOCAL BAND To begin, Face once again finds itself on the ballot for Best Local Band, this time via Denver Channel 7’s “A-List.” We hope you’ll vote for us. Voting ends on the 18th, so I’ve made it simple by including the link directly to our page here: http://kmgh.cityvoter.com/face/biz/102856 THOSE ELUSIVE NISSI’S TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE We’ve heard from a number of you how hard it has been in the past to get tickets to Nissi’s because they sell out in advance, well GUESS WHAT? Nissi’s has expanded, and can now fit a lot more people, so it’s become much easier to get in! In fact, there are still tickets available for our next show there, Sept 22! If you haven’t seen us at Nissi’s, it’s a great intimate venue in Lafayette that we’ve played no fewer than 80 times in the past four years. Details and ticket info are listed below. BOULDER’S DINNER THEATRE CABARET SERIES We’re returning to Boulder’s Dinner Theatre on Sept 29 (Mark’s birthday!), where they now host great local musicians as part of their “Cabaret Series” on nights when their regular shows aren’t running. It makes for a colorful show, because typically we perform in front of whatever set they have up for their current show, and as you can imagine we become inspired by our surroundings and it has made for some creative interpretations at past performances there. See below for ticket info. OH MY GOSH YOU’RE PLAYING WITH WHO??? If you’re an a cappella fan even in the slightest, you are going to flip when you hear about the October 23 show we just booked. As part of the annual “Mile High Vocal Jam,” we are going to be sharing the stage with The Bobs and The House Jacks, two of the most legendary contemporary a cappella groups of all time. The Bobs were one of the original contemporary groups (specifically targeting rock and pop music to perform) and were nominated for a Grammy for their rendition of The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” 15 years ago. The House Jacks are probably the most widely successful contemporary group, having toured the world a number of times, and have gotten so big in Asia that they actually have a tribute band that covers all of the House Jacks music. To learn more about them, I’ve included their websites below. Tickets info is listed at the end of this e-mail. http://www.bobs.com http://www.housejacks.com/ What: Face at Nissi’s Where: Nissi’s Bistro Date: Tues, Sept 22 Time: 7:30 pm Address: 2675 North Park Ave, Lafayette CO Tickets: http://www.clubnissis.com/nissis/facesept222009.html What: Face at Boulder’s Dinner Theatre Where: Boulder’s Dinner Theatre Date: Tues, Sept 29 Time: 5:00 pm doors, 7:00 pm performance Address: 5501 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder CO Tickets: http://www.theatreinboulder.com/cabaretseries.html What: Face with The Bobs and The House Jacks (Mile High Vocal Jam) Where: Hinkley High School Date: Fri, Oct 23 Time: 7:30 pm Address: 1250 Chambers Rd, Aurora CO Tickets: http://soundoftherockies.com/milehighvocaljam/tixInd.php

If you are in the Denver/Boulder area tonight take a listen to a couple songs by one of our awesome headliners Face on 97.3 FM -- plus I hear they are going to be putting in a great plug for the Mile High Vocal Jam coming up on October 23rd & 24th.  I hope you all have bought your tickets.  Tickets are selling fast!!

10:00 tonight!! Happy listening,

Mike D
