I bought my copy of 'A story Ended' a few years ago on CD, so I was
suprised to hear it was unavailable. I suspect I probably bought it
on Amazon (or somewhere on the net). It is on Sequal records,
catalogue NEM CD641.
I saw Colosseum do 'The Pirates Dream' at least twice when they
reformed - both faultless performances each time. Damn shame if they
never do it again, it certainly is one of my favourites.
There are two performances of it on 'A story Ended' - a tasty studio
one with Chris Farlowe and a slightly dodgy live one with Paul
Williams. He really seems to be struggling badly. I've got a Tempest
album with Paul Williams on and he sounds fine singing rock stuff
that is suited to his voice - but it really shows up what an
incredible range Chris Farlowe has when you hear someone else
struggling with something either written for, or adopted by, him.
Still - a great album, there is some really interesting stuff on it,
including tracks with Mark Clarke and Graham Bond on vocals.
