Hi,
I saw Colosseum Mk I with Tony Reeves & James Litherland in 1969 at the
University of East Anglia as a pimply teenager in my army great coat sitting on
the floor trying to look cool with all the other heads.
On the same bill was Mott the Hoople and the English Steve Miller Band
featuring Lol Coxhill - all for the cost of a 50p ticket!
I had heard the "Those about to Die...." album and was blown away which is
why I ended up seeing them at UEA. I was not disappointed. I have seen them
endless times since having travelled to Germany, Holland, Austria, Czech
Republic and good old Milton Keyenes to name but a few. Milton Keynes was
particularly memorable as that's where I last saw D-H-S. he had just come out
of
hospital and had gone to the gig to listen. I had to buy a second copy of
"Tomorrow's Blues" just so I could get his autograph!
I first saw the band with Chris Farlowe at the Woolwich Arsenal in 1971 -
truly awesome!
I can't think of any other band that I would particularly want to go and see
after nearly 40 years!
Best of luck with the book.
Martin
