Actually they both have 16.5mm spacing if memory serves
correctly. The spacing at the Bridge is the same but the nut is tighter
on the GTBD-7. It's been awhile since I have messed with them but I'm
fairly certain that is the case. Also a big difference is the GTBD-7 has
a Maple/Purpleheart multi-laminate neck and the GT-7 has
Wenge/Purpleheart hence the more "organic" tone. Wenge is a more porous
wood but still very solid and it gives a slightly darker tone.

I always go passive and have no knobs or switches on my instruments.
and wide spacing is a blessing.

I've forgotten the actual ctc distance of the two models but when I
put the 17mm spaced bridge on my GT it was a real difference. the
Dickens model I played was substantially tighter.

I was a real serious neck-through snob until I played several of Bill
Conklin's different instruments. the first 2 basses he made me were
neck-through but the new one will be a bolt-on.
