You said it. Depending on other companies sucks!!! It's really sad to
say that one of the reasons (of many) that a lot of companies out source
overseas is they tend to be a lot more reliable. I'm born, proud and
bred American but man so many of the distributors and parts
manufacturers are just plain undependable as all hell!!! There are a few
dependable companies over here but they are getting very few and far
between. So many of them tell you one thing after another and it's just
that, they told you something, it didn't mean they were going to do what
they said or ever plan to do it. It really is sad, I don't like it but
that is just the way it is getting. :-( Oh well, enough of the ranting.

I should have done that when I had my GT-7. I bet it would have played much
better with my neanderthal technique!

Finances dictate I gotta to let this one go to:
Conklin Jake Kot Signature 5 String Fretless
Immaculate condition, this bass is the featured 5 string on Conklin's
website. This bass with it's options would list for over $5,000.
Selling: $1599. I'm letting it go for a steel because I'm trying to
buy a house
Dragon wood body with matte sunburst finish
Jake Kot signature body style
RMC Piezo pickups in bridge
Conklin custom radiused soapbar pickups (radius matches fingerboard)
Coco-bolo fingerboard
Maple/Purpleheart neck
Aguilar OBP-3 preamp (3 band EQ with mid switch)
Series / parallel switch for each pickup
Hipshot ultralight tuners (brushed aluminum finish)
Hipshot brushed aluminum bridge
The electronics system is very versatile, I choose this setup because
I planned on using this fretless for everything, even slap style, and
wanted to be able to get any tone out of it.

I wanted to let you guys know I'm selling my Bill Dickens sig:
Conklin Bill Dickens Groove Tools with Conklin Hard Case - $995.00
Bass is in excellent condition, and the action is great!
This bass was converted to six string (six string bridge and nut).
However I will also include the original 7 string bridge so you can put
it back to 7 by installing the original bridge and putting on a new
nut. It makes a quite a hip 6 as it is.
This model recently sold used on ebay (without a case, I'm including
one) for $990.

coolness, JT. thanks.
what is that second URL in your sig?
by the way, guys, I spoke with Bill Conklin yesterday and it looks like all
the details for my new 10 are firmed up. the neck blank is already made so I'm
hoping (crossing fingers and knocking on wood here) that the bass may be done
before the year is out.
the new 8 is still just amazing me daily!

hey all,
I suspected the last member was a spammer when she joined (based

while this is not the most active group, it is something important to
those of us who belong.
would you guys like me to change the membership to one which requires

I would think that it would be unlikely that you would damage anything
by using a lithium over an alkaline battery. "9 volts" is still
just "9 volts", if you know what I mean! I find that the 9 volt
battery lasts quite a while in this type of circuit.. particularly, if
you "pull the plug" when it's not in use. and since "leaving the plug
in" can kill a battery.. it doesn't seem to be very economical to
risk "doing in" a lithium battery.. which costs somewhere around three
times the price of an alkaline battery. (Just a humble opinion!)
In a related question .. I hear about some people, from time to time,
that will use a second 9 volt in series, to run their bass on 18 volts.
(a two-battery jumper can be easily constructed) Has anyone tried
this? Does any other circuit mod need to be done?
Thanks!

I have a GTBD-7 (Conklin). I am using a 9v lithium battery. I thought
it would last longer than an alkaline. However, I was perusing Ibanez'
website and in an online manual for their basses they specifically
say, "Use a new 9-volt alkaline (not lithium or carbon) battery."
http://www.ibanez.com/support/manuals/electric_basses.pdf
Does anyone know why that is? Am I damaging my bass by using a 9v
lithium battery?
