I paid 700.00 for the Puchner contra bocal but it is well worth it

I think the Puchner instruments are often underrated in general, and

At the risk of raising a controversy, I am forced to reply:
For me as a dilettante musician and composer, Facebook is my lifeline to
the musical world. Very well-known composers and performers -- whom I
have never met -- have become my friends on Facebook. They post
fascinating information on an almost hourly basis. I literally do not
have time to keep up with them. Facebook is a great way for people who
share common interests to meet and communicate. Its virtues far outweigh
its flaws.

Being a strong advocate of Puchner's I will agree. For a year or so I've been a
happy owner of a model 23 I think. It has a nice big sound and very much reminds
me of a Heckel. big fan of em :P
I've been monstrously curious about the Bell Bassoons. Definitely going for one
of those when I'm done with the Puchner which won't be for a long time I'm sure.

I tried to use the facebook 'find friends' feature. I loaded my

Thanks,
I have a very nice Fox but tried a Puchner bocal on it and it plays
beautifully. That got me wondering how their contras play.

Indiana University has a newer contra (2002 or so) which I played on
many, many concerts while a student there. It played very well, and
had a great big, yet controllable sound. I used it in many
situations, from Mahler to crazy new music works with super high
passages. Loved it. I wish I had one myself now!

Also, it had the antique finish, which not only looks great, but seems
to help the sound as well.

Cheers,
Justin

John,

Clarinet stuff is over on Mark Charette's www.woodwind.org
site. (Wait! That's LinkedIn, not Facebook...<grin>)

When you wrote that, my 8 year-old had "Doctor Who" on

tastefully, always leaving us wanting more...

Good Luck in your search.

Ridenour makes some very nice plastic clarinets. They have just completed a
new Contrabass Bb clarinet. Has anyone played or seen it. I was once a
member of a Klarinet group and I can no longer find them. Does anyone know if
they are still active? Also,
what is the opinion of the Leblanc Contrabass clarinet in Bb. Is
Eppielshiem's in production yet?
