Laurie:

Hope this finds you well. Things are fine here. Got lots of rain and lots
of baby calves so are quite busy!

I usually don't send things to solicit, however, Jeri Dobrowski wrote this
up and we are sending it out to day to call attention to the cause. Please
feel free to forward it on as it is not one of those scams whatsoever. We
feel this is a very worthwhile project...and website and hope this helps 'em
out. Thanks alot.

Yvonne

CowboyPoetry.-com receives $1 million gift

"April Fools!"

While the above headline is not true, wouldn't it be great if it were?
Instead of waiting for that to happen, I am asking you to make a donation to
CowboyPoetry.-com in observance of Cowboy Poetry Week. Whether it is $20,
$100 or more, please observe April 15-21, 2007 with a gift to this
invaluable Website.

The timely, Internet community has operated on a surprisingly limited budget
since being launched in 2000. It is up to those of us who use it to keep
CowboyPoetry.-com online. When you make a donation, it counts twice: once as
a financial contribution and again to gauge public support. That's important
when applying for grants.

As you know, there are no subscription or membership fees. CowboyPoetry.-com
exists because of contributions from loyal readers. Perhaps you already are
one. Maybe you've thought about giving but never got around to it.

Consider what it would be like if The World's Largest, Ongoing Cowboy Poetry
Gathering was no longer at your fingertips? Where, at one address, would you
find . . .

poems, lyrics, photos and stories of cowboy and ranch life?

news, essays, Q&A, special events, contests?

gathering announcements, links, reports and photos?

information on artists and their Web links?

rare or obscure poems, the classics, and new poets too?

links to print publications?

submission applications and deadlines?

a similar Western entertainment promotion vehicle?

an equally effective research tool?

entertainment, inspiration, encouragement, preservation?

a larger audience eager for cowboy history and lore?

the comradery of branding time or roundup, where folks share tales?

a better place to make contacts from around the world?

another site that speaks your language so eloquently?

another editor with such love for the genre and commitment to excellence?

What is CowboyPoetry.-com worth to you? What would it cost to attend
gatherings where you'd be exposed to such a variety of artists? What would
it cost to build a library containing the poetry posted there? For you
artists, what is the value of merchandise sold and bookings generated
through the site?

If you are already a supporter, please renew your annual support or consider
an additional donation.

If you are the member of a gathering committee or poets' association, please
consider an annual sponsorship. Individuals can also utilize a sponsor
banner to promote a new release or Website in front of 150,000 visitors per
month (1.8 million monthly hits): <HYPERLINK

If you contribute $40 or more, you'll receive the 2007 Cowboy Poetry Week
poster featuring "At His Own Pace" by Tim Cox; $100 or more and you'll
receive the poster and the 2007 CD compilation, The BAR-D Roundup.

Can't make a donation? Please show your support by circulating this letter
to your friends.

We apologize if you have already received this message. The undersigned, an
informal group of supporters, is trying to get the word out regarding the
need for financial support of CowboyPoetry.-com. Please copy/paste the
message into a new message, add or replace your name beneath, and send to
friends who enjoy the Website. (It's always good email etiquette to put your
friends' addresses in the "blind carbon copy" (Bcc:) blank so they aren't
available to unscrupulous email marketers.)
