Howdy pards!
Well the holidays are behind us now, and we've got a brand new fresh
year in which to spread the Cowboy way to all and sundry.
First a big old Western howdy to our newest Saddle pal, Tommy
Tentpeg. Tommy is a GI serving over in Kuwait, keeping an eye
out 'fer the nitwits what might want to mess things up on the home
front. He loves our kind of music, both classic and modern and has a
hard time finding it overseas (As you might imagine, there's not a
big fan-base for Cowboy Music in the middle east.) So if any of y'all
want to send him some Cowboy care packages with some good tunes and
such, you can write him here, and get his mailing address.
Now, for those of you in the N. Texas area...
Some interesting gigs coming up in the next couple of months.
Jan 26-28 the annual Campfire Tales Cowboy Music and Poetry
gathering at the Ft. Worth stock show. We'll be in the John West
arena at the Will Rogers Complex from Noon ;til 6 all 3 days. Guests
include Charles Williams, Dan Roberts, Lanny Jo Burnett, Devon
Dawson, The Texas Trailhands, The Wallace Family, The Terry Family,
Donna Hatton, Paul Harris, Yours truly, and the Phil R. Monick Stock
Show Orchestra and Chorus (Western Swing Jam). For those of you who
can't make it out to Ft. Worth it's scheduled to be carried live over
the net by the Ralph's Back Porch Show.
A specuial treat for Michael Martin Murphy fans! MMM is going to be
in concert with select members of the Cowtown Opry (Ft. Worth's
oldest Western Music Organization) at the Opry's annual Texas
Independence Day gala Monday March 2'nd at Joe T. Garcia's Festival
Gardens near the Historic Ft. Worth Stockyards. Tickets are going
fast! visit Cowtownopry.org for more details.
Also, in celebration of Tx Independence Day (albeit a few days late)
The fine folks out at Jackson Hole tx (near Maypearl) are having a
big shindig on Mar 7. Including such fine performers as Tommy
Alverson, Bronco Billy Cate, Brian Burns, Mike Blakely, and Poets
and storytellers including Charles Williams, Teressa Burleson, and
Your's truly.
Also, for any who are going to the Cowboy gathering in Alpine the
last weekend in Feb, you might want to also take a short drive to the
first annual Gathering in Van Horn. I'll be one of the featured
artists there, and will also be at the open sessions in Alpine.
Hope to see y'all soon!
'til then,
Buck "The Big Man"
