One definition of bliss, according to an online dictionary, is complete
happiness--a state of being attainable after listening to this new CD from
Stephanie Davis' Recluse Records.
Western Bliss is one half of a simultaneous release of CDs--the other being
Western Bling--and shares with its stable-mate guitarist Rich O'Brien leading a
top-flight band of Texas musicians and, of course, Davis' masterful vocals.
Davis and her compadres (co-producer/arranger O'Brien, Cindy Cashdollar, Ronny
Ellis, Billy English, Clint Strong, Brent Dacus, Reggie Reuffer, and Dale
Morris, jr.) take a line-up of both old and new songs and create a traditional
western sound that's intimate in nature--as if a group of friends decided to set
up and pick and grin a little in your living room, or you're listening to your
favorite Saturday afternoon wireless show (Trail's End Ranch Radio, anyone?).
If the sounds of Today's Hot New Country have left you feeling a little cold and
old, saddle up your ol' Cayuse and mosey on down the trail to the state of
Nirvana: Western Bliss. Highly recommended.
