Nice piece. I enjoyed it.

I read that there's been a lot of coverage in the Iranian press about the 300
movie. 300 is a
film version of an adult cartoon book ('graphic novel') by Frank Miller, the guy
who wrote
the Batman/Dark Knight graphic novels that became the modern Batman movies. 300
is
not meant to accurately represent actual events, just as Batman is not meant to
accurately
represent actual law enforcement practices. It's just a cartoon fantasy, no one
who sees it
thinks that Xerxes really looked like that or that people dressed that way or
rode battle
rhinoceroses, or such things.

>Music of jupiterians , the beings that inhabit the planet Jupiter and are

This is really cool! It definitely sounds like Jupiterians.

Thanks for sharing this! I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of a lot
of different places and styles. It's hard to describe, but I think
your own description of jovial is accurate.

Dear Shaahin,

Please let me share many congratulations on Polymicro-3!

It is a tender, yearning, and playful piece from beginning to
end. There is a special delicacy and delight which I cannot quite put
into words, but I love.

There was a cadence around 2:12 that sounded very familiar to me,
maybe classical 12th-13th century European -- but very nice, in any
event.

A lot of what I'm doing now is starting to learn the radif, something
which I know people spend many years in doing. Thank you for your
music in many styles, a tribute to the people of Iran and all the
people of the world.

By the way, I am having fun imagining how at some point Baran and
Annika might play in an ensemble. I wonder who might sing, or play tar
or santur.

Peace and love,

Margo

I recently uploaded a little study for pipe organ in 26 edo.

<http://www.microtonalmusic.net/audio/26edoorganstudy1.mp3>

I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has done much
experimenting in this temperament. I kept this study fairly simple, but
I hope to finish a second one that will explore some of this
temperament's more exotic harmonic possibilities.

Thank You,

Hi dear brother ozan

yes , you are right , i had found the score in a translated article by ursula
reinhard in "Mahoor music quarterly , volum7,no.25,autumn2004".i decided to add
the source,but :
1- unfortunately ,as i searched the irregular spelling , i couldn't find
anything in google.
2- As i were in a hurry (i always do my microtonal uploads in company !!) , i
forgot to continue my search in wikipedia, but thanks god that you remind me ,
so i will add details to my esnips page.
3-may be it was my mistake to ask you about him.
and many thanks for your rude term as" grotesquely deformed ", (never mind!)

I am surprised you haven't specified that the grotesquely deformed Rast melody
is none other than the composition of Hammamizade Ismail Dede Efendi, titled

Hi Mohajeri,

Yes, I do know that 24 is commonly used particularly
for arabic maqamat and in that context it sounds
great. I also, as I said, thought that your piece was
great and didn't remind me of 24 at all.

In the west, 24 is handled very differently from how
it is handled in the middle-east. Here, typically
24tET appears in 'quartertone' music, which often
enough is two pianos in 12tET tuned 50 cents apart.
This was one of the easiest microtonal tunings to use
in practice by modern composers since it did not
require any specially constructed instruments, or even
any special tuning techniques, you just needed a
tuning fork a quarter-tone from A440 to start with,
tune two pianos the normal way, and you're all set.

Composers working for this arrangement tried hard to
stay away from anything that sounds like it might be
in 12. That often meant that a lot of extreme
dissonance and unpleasant intervals were used, as well
as chord progressions that seemed to be completely
random and inharmonic.

These were the first pieces that were advertised as
'microtonal' in the western art world, and they caused
many audiences to reject microtonality completely as
they associated it with the unpleasantness they heard
during these concerts. Even today, people will say
they "hate microtonality" because they heard some of
these pieces in a music appreciation class where they
were told that this was what microtonality was about -
raucousness, inharmonicity, anger and unpleasantry.

But as you've shown, this western tradition of 24 is
not the only way to approach it microtonally, and that
is a very good thing!

i'm working on pythagorean and aristoxenian basis of 24-EDO and very interesting
results for me.
it is very interesting that peoples , never seen each other , from different
cultures and life period , can reach to something very common. music is the
language of unity.
thank you for saying that , again.

Hey Shahin,

I've been listening to it several more times and it
keeps getting better. The composition itself reminds
me a little bit of Prent Rogers' style in some of his
pieces.

It's really amazing that you used a pretty out-there
tuning and combined it with 24 (which is kind of a
yucky tuning in my opinion) and made something that
makes sense and sounds cool, so really good work
there.

Hi Shaahin, thanks, that's a very interesting piece.

I use polytonal or polymicrotonal if using multiple
different tunings simultaneously.

I use modulation if I am shifting to a new tonality
but using the same scale as before.

Secor already mentioned to you elsewhere that Ivor
Darreg would transfer between scales if he was
modulating to a completely different system. That's a
reasonable term, as is your term transformation which
is just as good, if that is what you are doing -
completely changing from one scale to another.

Hi all
I have uploaded 3 new musics :
1- Nightly lullaby <http://acousticsoftombak.googlepages.com/Nightlylullaby.mp3>
A bakhtiari folk song inspired me to make this music in 12-EDO very long ago.
2- For my daughter , baran-1
<http://acousticsoftombak.googlepages.com/Forbaran.mp3>
3- For my daughter , baran-2
<http://acousticsoftombak.googlepages.com/Forbaran2.mp3>
Baran scale (a hybrid 12-tone scale which has two segments as 7-aid(700.) and
5-aid(500.) with a1=80 for both) is used to retune these two musics.
For Baran scale click here </web/Shaahinsmicrotonaldocumentfolder> .
