1) After a couple of weeks of test-driving some new material at "The Basement", UG officially plunges headlong into recording this weekend. Saturday Jason returns from guitar lessons with Steve Vai and John Petrucci (he says they're progressing nicely, by the way) and the band bursts into Studio A in none other than "Detroit Rock City". Uneven Ground will be recording an undisclosed amount of material, and releasing ONE song as a teaser. This track will be released simultaneously on several radio stations across Canada and the US and shortly afterward will be available for download from the official site (http://come.to/unevenground). Guest Musicians will not include The London Philharmonic, Megadeth, and Sandi Patti. Keep an eye on the site for regular studio reports in the "news" section.

3) Upcoming Shows! Well, UG has been taking time off for writing, but what's a mind-blowing Filocrux band without some live performances?? UG will be doing a pair of show on Thanksgiving weekend. Friday, October 11 - Bancroft and Saturday October 12 - Madoc. These shows will be very cool. Watch the site and a mini-update for exact info!
3.11) Official member list and the rumour mill: UG members are (today) FreeXP - Bass, Tito - Vox, Kojak - Drums, JSn - Giddy-Pickers. There have been several odd rumours concerning members. Let's clear them up once and again... FreeXP aka Geoff Breen is formerly of the hard rock outfit "Forevertree" and not formerly of "Geoff Breen and the Distance" as some baddies have falsely reported. JSn is not short for the "John Schlitt network - All Petra, All The Time". It's short for Jason. Get it? Me neither... Tito is NOT the youngest Jackson, nor is he the vocalist from Bride. That's his brother, Dale... and Kojak is NOT bald (not last time I saw him anyway...) nor is he an ex-detective. Just wanted to clear that up for you all.
4) Do they have real jobs? Nope, but close: Jason is a Graphic/Web/Multimedia Designer, Nathan works for Microsoft (heh... Microsoft employs drummers... guess that explains Windows 98...), Geoff recently went from Warehouse Manager at Power Music to Manager of some music store in the GTA.... Troy's job remains a mystery. Some kind of youth work or something like that...
4.7) The new site is in development and will be deployed soonly! We'll let you know. Honest Engine.
5) 1,3,4,5 - Two is burnt out.
6) People often wonder if UG has many former members... or something like that. Here's the current body count: Singers - 8; Drummers - 4; Bassists - 3; Guitarists 0. The moral... Guitar players can't take a hint!
7) ...But Seriously Folks...
Fall has arrived. Kind of. Here in Southern Ontario, the leaves remain mostly green, but half of them have fallen. Very odd. Sometimes it rains and is cold and other times it's hot and humid. The snow will come along, even if nowadays it's no more irritating to deal with than a light frost, and then will come the season formerly known as spring. Seasons change and time marches on. Sometimes we seem to forget ourselves and time rushes by. We look back and see all the things we meant to do or say, the kind of person we meant to be, and we either shrug our shoulders, get depressed, or make a decision to change. To take back what we sold for distraction.
Time is only a measuring stick and then only a vague one. We measure life expectancy by it, though many people miss the mark. We measure maturity by it, though that's clearly an individual thing. We even measure wisdom by it, but I propose that there are many "old fools". Most people are slaves to time and ages and even the past, which can not be re-written.
I implore you to take a pause today and consider your life. Consider things you know you're afraid of and explore why. Think of people you've hurt and ponder how you might reconcile it. Tell the important people in your life how much they mean to you and watch their eyes light up. Consider all that you wish you had done and do any of it you still can. Don't let a disappointing or mis-spent past, or anyone else's expectations of you to cause you to fail to live up to your God-given potential.
Seek meaning, Seek peace, and most of all, Seek truth. He's waiting with a patience you can't even begin to fathom.
