===============

Ok, here's what we'll be covering:

1. Line-up shift of the week
2. Appearance on Leno a no-go
3. Upcoming gigs(-s)
4. Alien conspiracy: the truth about the UG roster
5. The new material, the new website, yada yada
6. A note from the band
7. Something to ponder

(WARNING: mixed-metaphors, intentional and otherwise may lay ahead. Enter at
your own risk!)

===========================
1. LINE-UP SHIFT OF THE WEEK

Well, after some ill-fated attempts at finding just the right pieces to the UG
puzzle, the band has made a pact with a brand new frontman and they WILL rock
your faces off, no matter what implements might be necessary...
Tony Lavender (Thor to his close personal buddies) has finally taken the bull by
the horns and jumped into UG full-force. Tony is a fantastic vocalist with some
awesome instrumental talents tucked away that will simply make the band sparkle
(in a scary way, of course...).
You say you need proof?? Well look for the gig bit below...
Feel free to drop Tony a word of encouragement (or warning) at
thor@...

2. APPEARANCE ON LENO A NO GO

After several timing issues and a small legal fiasco, UG will not be appearing
on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" next week. Nathan Kordyjaka (drummer) is
quoted as saying "Jay has made things really difficult, as has the network.
There is some conjecture that the house band is intimidated by us as well."
Uneven Ground's lawyer say that UG's not being invited to appear on the show may
also have been a factor.

3. UPCOMING GIGS(-S)

Every now-and-again the band likes to play a show, for you the fans. SO,
after much defibrillation, UG has decided to accept the opportunity to play what
will certainly be a very unique concert... This Saturday, at "The Crown" in
Brantford (formerly the Turnaround, so named with good reason). Admission is $5
and the doors open at 9:00ish. The show is all-ages, but UG fans under 19 or
over 57 aren't encouraged to attend.
Bands appearing will be: Lemon Plastic (abstract-o metal), Heart Monitor
(Hardcore), and Violent Downfall (Hardcore). This is a bit of a throw back show
for the fans as the bands all represent former musical titans of the Brantford
underground scene. Lemon Plastic is a new incarnation of "iconfined" and Heart
Monitor is a new incarnation of "Stilborn". VD has been around a long while, as
has UG (as many of you know).
UG will play near the beginning of the night and it will be a short set,
with a few surprises, no doubt. The show will feature a guest bassist, former
4-stringer of UG Adam Lavender (AKA Tony's brother). To the ladies he's
referred to as "The Cute Bassist". This segues us nicely into our next
segment...

4. ALIEN CONSPIRACY: THE TRUTH ABOUT THE UG ROSTER

So you may have noticed that Geoff Breen (Bassist) and Tito (Vocalist,
guitarist of Bride) are no longer listed as band members. You also say: "wow,
they weren't around that long..." Well, here's the scoop: Upon the career
change of Adam Lavender (from UG bassist to Man-Doll model), bassist Geoff Breen
(formerly Forevertree) entered UG. Sadly, after some extensive writing, Geoff
was given the opportunity to chase his life-long ambition and felt that he
needed to move on to loftier pursuits. He is currently managing a music store
in Oakville (Revolution Music, great place, check it out!) and he is now the
bassist in Ontario's premiere Bon Jovi cover band.
Tito is currently working part-time as the Arch-Bishop of Canterbury and
pursuing a solo acoustic career...
Those are the official reports CNN would have you believe. The fact is,
they were all abducted by aliens who feared these young men were involved in a
powerful musical force that could overthrow their regime. Luckily, Adam
escaped.

5. THE NEW MATERIAL, THE NEW WEBSITE, YADA-YADA

Yes, the new material is coming. Yes, the new website is coming. Why so
delayed?? Due to roster issues and the general business of life (Jobs, new
children etc...) and the good ol' hub-bub of winter, things got left on the
burner. And yes, Jason and Jacqui welcomed their second son (Jaden Liam) into
the world on January 13th/03. So now you know officially. He is already taking
piano lessons. Anyway, stay tuned as these updates and changes will soon,
finally, be a reality.

6. A NOTE FROM THE BAND

"Hi Guys. We're very excited about the show this weekend and it should be
blast for anyone who decides to attend. We're also stoke about the addition of
Tony to the line-up. Can you say unstoppable??" - Mowgli

7. SOMETHING TO PONDER

I heard a story of a man who was once asked if he had any serious illnesses
while doing hospital admission paper-work. He said "Yes. I have cancer." The
nurse then asked him, "are you terminal?". "Aren't we all?" was his response.
Aren't we all. Yes, I guess we are.
As I've pondered this idea, I've found myself range through a long list of
feelings. Some of us are very ill, some of us are well. Some of us think we're
ok while disease has already begun to ravage our bodies painlessly, hoping not
to be noticed until it is too late. Despite all of this, and all of the modern
miracles of medicine, every last one of us is TERMINAL. We WILL die. Our
bodies will reach a place where they simply cannot go on, for one reason or
another.
Somehow, though we all know this, we manage to exclude ourselves from the
idea that we will pass away. Whether it takes a long time and is quiet and in
our sleep or whether it is painful or even violent, our souls will be forced
from the haven of our bodies. The thing we must confront is "What then?"
What then?? Well, I'd like to leave you with that. What does come next, if
anything? As always, be encouraged to seek out the truth of this matter, as
your life and more importantly, your afterlife, hinges on knowing the answer to
this question.

Until next time:

Arty "Mama Dolly" Fufkin,
Vice-Somethingerother, SEED Records
