Wow. As I write this many really cool things are happening for me as
a musician.
1) My website is up and running. I'm really pleased with this first
version and plan to load it to www.carywhaley.com soon. Special
thanks to Blondelogic, Kathie Asbury, and Chris Liebman for making
this happen.
2) My friend, Nancy Katz, is planning to add a Cary Whaley original
to her songlist ("The Books for Booze Blues"). I'm hoping that she
will perform it in her October 17 Manassas Border's Books show. Also,
keep an ear out for Becky Tracey Welch, who regularly performs
Cary's "Matter of our Hearts."
3) I'm VERY excited to perform at the Gainesville Fall Festival
hosted at Episcopal Church of the Word on Sat. Sept 6 from 9am -
5pm. It's family oriented (moon bounce, food court, yard sale,
auction at 4pm)and it's FREE. 14215 Lee Hwy, Gainesville, VA.
FREE I'll performing from 2:30pm - 3pm.....that's 8 songs! A
great chance to hear the depth of my writing. Many of my friends will
be performing, so come on out and spend the day in Gainesville.
4) Cary's new open mic at Bad Ass Coffee Company in Manassas is just
building steam. We really need a strong showing for the September 13
open mic to keep it alive. Don't let the name scare ya, this is a
great place to play. Sat. 7pm - 9:00pm, Bad Ass Coffee Company,
Portsmouth Shopping Center, Manassas, VA 703-335-8877
5) What's with the song critiques? I think peer feedbacks are a
crucial element to completing a song. They're also fun. I participate
and help facilitate two peer critiques: (1) Circle of Faith- a
Christian,faith based critique with praise, praise and fellowship;
and (2) SAW Songwriter's Exchange and Sounding Board, an open peer
forum with a guest host that shares insights.
6) The 6/23 coffeehouse at Burke Presbyerian Church was a blast. I
played on a very strong line-up with Lori Kelley, Cletus Kennelly,
Isabella Perelman, and a host of others. I'm played three
songs: "Like a River", "Paul Revere", and "Another Year". For the
final song, Lori, Cletus and I joined Isabella and her husband Lew on
her song "Love's Long, Winding, Highway." Very cool to share the mic
with artists I respect.
7) If you haven't seen it, Viqui Dill's recap of our Memorial Day
appearance at Jammin' Java's open mic. It's a riot!

Wow....that's it for now, thanks for taking interest.
