As is traditional, most musicians hate the thought of
working the "business" of their careers because:

1. It takes time away from their art and its creativity.
2. It can be boring and tedious.
3. It can be very difficult, particularly, if you are unaware
of how much of it works separately, and as a whole.
4. Any combination of the above.

And, having begun my career as a musician/recording
artist, and now having served as both a radio promoter
and media publicist for over 15 years, I completely
understand musicians' feelings on it.

But! Having said that, on the other hand, if you have
ever sold just 1 CD, whether only through a site such
as CD Baby or at a gig, you have, in effect, conducted
"business."

And, as you (hopefully) have a DBA (Doing Business
As) assumed name certificate that allows you to legally
operate a business within your local area, combined
with the fact that you sell music, for all practical
purposes, you are your own record label, whether you
want to be, or not.

And, since you are your own label, you can probably
use some information on how to really make it
successful, if not for a long-term basis, at least, for as
long as it takes and allows you to get a P&D (Pressing
& Distribution) deal with a distributor, or a deal with a
larger label, if that is your goal.

Therefore, on tomorrow evening (Sunday/Jan. 30th),
we will be taping the Wednesday (February 2, 2005)
edition of "Think About It!," our weekly radio talk show
for musicians. And, our guest will be Daylle Deanna
Schwartz.

Daylle was not only a teacher who released a RAP
record several years ago, and became known in her
area of New York as "The Rapping Teacher, " but she
also operated a very successful record company.

Additionally, she is the author of "Start and Run Your
Own Record Label," a highly informative resource that
covers every aspect of starting, operating and
maintaining a successful recording company.

So, if you have questions that you would like her to
answer that can give you that competitive edge and
greatly help your day-to-day operations, please send
them to me at kennylove@...

See more details regarding her on our guest page at
http://www.MuBiz.com/TAI-Feb05Guests.html

Also, be sure to check out complete details on the
show as well as who our future guests are by clicking

"New Radio Talk Show for Musicians!"

Thanks again for your continued interest and support
of our talk show.
