Edge of Sanity released the EP Until Eternity Ends in 1994 prior to
finishing up the work on their second masterpiece Purgatory
Afterglow (preceded by The Spectral Sorrows). This 4-song EP is
just 12 ½ minutes long, but like any good EP it has plenty of multi-
spin value. The title track is fairly heavy death-n-roll showing
the full talent of the band at that point in time. Eternal Eclipse
continues the style of the 1st song with a bit more of Dan's
excellent melodic clean voice along with his legendary harsh
vocals. Sort of a preview of where the band would devolve to on the
Infernal release is the song Bleed written by Dread and Benny
Larsson. This song is more straight-forward brutal death metal with
Dread even doing the vocals, sounds like a Grave song almost. This
EP closes with a good cover of Sting's Invisible Sun, not much metal
and more like a Nightingale song. If this was still 1994 I'd say
this EP is essential, but as you can see these 4 songs were more or
less the ground work of what these musicians would do on latter
works. With that in mind, Until Eternity Ends is only recommended
to completionists who already own most of the releases by Edge of
Sanity/Nightingale/Grave.
