It looks like this list has been moving slowly for the last year or
so... but there's a lot of cool stuff that's been discussed.

I've just gotten into databending recently (and transcoding in general).
Before I knew the word "sonification" I called it "resounding" and wrote
a paper <http://rpi.edu/%7Emcdonk/resounding/hearanything.pdf> with
some ideas.

The paper explores more "literal" mappings onto sound, but I've worked
with a lot more "subjective" mappings as well... transforming a 15 meter
wide glass sculpture into an ambient piece
<http://rpi.edu/%7Emcdonk/resounding/> for a string sextet or making
music from termite mounds <http://rpi.edu/%7Emcdonk/resounding/> .

I'd love to hear feedback on these pieces and I'm excited to see what
other projects this list inspires!
