Yesterday's jam was small but fun. My brother Peter played keyboards, I played
violin
and dumbek, Stuart Mathews played electric bass, and Russ Rayfield played banjo.
Some
of the tunes I remember doing were Trotto, Soba Bomba, and Impressions. Also a
lot of
free and metered improvisation. We played from about 4:30 until 6:30 and then
went
over to Dunn Brothers for the Secondhand Rose / Honeysuckle Rose gig. It was the
first time we had fused the two trios to make a sextet, and it worked very
nicely.
On Saturday night, we had a dinner and meeting with the participants in a future
show
by Voices of Sepharad called Peace in the House, looking at commonalities and
neighborliness in the various cultures of the Middle East. More on that later.
Musically Yours,
David
