I wrote an article for the Register about installing Mac OS X on a standard
PC.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/10/20/macosx_on_a_pc/

Nothing to do with electronic music (well unless make your electronic music on
a Mac), but some of you might find it interesting.

(Please Cross Post)

To Hell with Angel's Night...we're bringing the revelry back to devilry in
Detroit!

On Devil's Night 2008 in Detroit, there will be a congregation of the most
malevolent fine art artists from across the nation to display their darkest
of creations at DAMNED: A Macabre Fine Art Exhibition
(www.thatdamnedshow.com). From first-timers to the famous, this sinister
assembly will exhibit a diversity of artistries from the depraved to the
deeply introspective guaranteed to intrigue, disturb, shock or repulse.
This is not Halloween-themed art but a submergence within the darker realms
of consciousness. The ambiance, though tinged with tantalizing temptations
and devilish decadence, will still hold the underlying essence of fine art
exhibition.

THE DAMNED CALL FOR ART!!!

Artists of all mediums are still welcome to submit their work for review.
There is no restriction on genre or content but generally the darker, the
better. If intrigued, please visit the DAMNED website at
"www.thatdamnedshow.com" for further submission information and guidelines.
The deadline is midnight September 25 2008 and there are no fees for
submitting.

We hope you join us in celebration as we bring the infamous Detroit
institution of Devil's Night back to our city...without the arson, of
course.

CAUSTIC:
Influences: Ministry, Andrew WK, The Gothsicles, Babyland, Manufactura,
W.A.S.T.E., Endif, C/A/T, Sheep on Drugs, Bill Hicks, David Cross, Doug
Stanhope, Converter, This Morn Omina, Nitzer Ebb, Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, Rob
Zombie, Tool, Slayer, Chemlab, Combichrist, Moby, Terrorfakt, The Operative,
Doormouse, Asche, Big Black, anything Mike Patton related, , Stromkern,
Mindless Self Indulgence, Stuntrock, Pantera, NOFX, Pop Will Eat Itself,
Atari Teenage Riot

Sounds Like: Jesus weeping, Asche, Terrorfakt, Manufactura, Hypnoskull,
C/A/T, Converter, Noisex, CombiChrist, Celine Dion's vagina, Nitzer Ebb,
Floppy Disk, The Partridge Family, Thrill Kill Kult, W.A.S.T.E., Lords of
Acid with balls, Sheep on Drugs, Trixter, Amy Grant on meth, some homeless
screamy guy who nobody will give beer money to.

Nuff said..

BioCarbon13:
BioCarbon13 is a Chicago laptop/electronic project-band influenced by
Industrial, Darkwave, EBM as well as the Goth and Punk music. Members I.Gor
(vocals), Xero One (percussion) and Ojo Infectado (synths and percussion)
bring their dark themes that are reminiscent of front 242 to you
live on stage with their "in-your-face" imagery and strong political topics.
Performing in support of their new album UVN, expect to hear many of their
new songs this evening.

WRAITH:
Wraith does not wish to re-invent the industrial wheel. It only wants to
pound it's personal spikes into it. it exists simply as an expression of
existing.

Sounds similar to what would happen if wisdom era 16volt listened to too
much leatherstrip and tried to rip off skinny puppy... goes great with
chemical enhancers of the nastier variety

In the current music world, industrial is all but dead. the genre has been
drowned with techno, pop and metal styling. it's dark roots and sounds left
behind in the pursuit of 'art'. even the giants of the scene have begun to
abandon their signature harshness. Wraith is a throwback to the times when
industrial was nasty and hard.

Spawned in 1995 in the wastelands of Texas, wraith soon became a terror to
stages in Houston and Austin. in 1999, wraith relocated to Chicago, which
brought about a shift in the sonic arrangements. more technology was
incorporated and subsequently abused to enhance the chaotic nature of the
music. Wraith has always been written and programmed by one person, with
rare exceptions, with a rotating cast of performance personnel. this has
directly resulted in an inconsistent live band that has given wraith several
different live vehicles, often with mixed results. Will Wraith has also
branched off into several other projects under various aliases and sounds as
well as contributing to live performances of other electronic acts; drumming
for endif and pisstake, and guitars/vocals for thirteen13.

"RUNNING TIME" - Starring Bruce Campbell and directed by Josh Becker
(director of 9 Xena episodes, Lunatics: A love Story, and Alien
Apocalypse).

This movie has been declared a cult classic by film geeks everywhere.
It's a rare movie that only pokes it's head out every now and again.

The Director will be on hand to answer questions after the screening.
He is a seasoned vet in the movie industry and has loads of war
stories and advice for filmmakers, actors, and all who love movies.

The last time Josh joined us at the main art he brought Ellen
Sandweiss - the actress who played Ellen in Sam Raimi's and Bruce
Campbell's The Evil Dead. Who knows who might show up to this event.

All are invited - tickets are $10 at the door.

Vol 3 didn't sell well for me. It might be due to the state of comps in the
music industry - samplers are kinda being replaced with mp3s...

I'll check my current stock to see what I have for V3. At a minimum I could
send out with the next round of promotion if I ever get around to it... I
think there was quite a few good songs on there...

well, to throw this into the ring... I've got a lot of unclaimed DEC3
comps. Several artists said they didn't want their copies, just one or two
for keepsakes. Any takers on vol. 3 ?

Officially, you are provided a number of copies to do with what you wish - give
away, sell, or smash into little bits - whatever was listed in your contract.
The compilation was only to have 1000 copies printed, per the contract.
Unofficially, I can't see anyone getting really upset about you printing a
handful more copies, although I could be surprised. It would be better for the
customer (higher quality) and all involved if you could find some from one of
the participants to buy (at hopefully below your predicted production costs)
and resell. This would not be a "voilation" of the contract. Unfortunately,
the last 2 I own are on CDbaby right now. I actually wouldn't mind having a
few more (original) copies to sell myself.

If I am allowed to sell x copies, does it matter if I have to
reprint them in order to accomplish that? At first I gave most of
them away, but with my last dozen copies I found them to be good
sellers on my merch table.

Alex,

While I personally don't care if you want to do reprints, I think there was
something about that in the contracts we all signed. Anyone else care?

I may have the artwork, but its gonna take a little time to find. Give me a
week and I'll see what I can dig up.
