Hey all
I was just wondering why it on my cover to the play out video says that
they´re playing a song called Away, while they´re actually playing Cut? Was
this the original title to the song? There´s one extra verse added, it goes
something like "it´s all up to you, remember the way it could all come true,
just push..."
Can anyone help me?
thx a lot

Hi everyone
I do not have a credit card, and since I only have an
anonymous account I can´t sign up at ebays, therefore
I am not able to view items (and this selfportrait
either). So I was wondering if I by any chance could
see it somehow anyway. Could someone post a link to it
somewhere else, and will the owner allow it. I would
very much like to see it
Thx

I agree. A little bit has already been done (an email to jjj, perth street
press), and I've just updated the site to try to encourage this. But
hitting the Sydney street press is great. I hadn't thought of newsgroups,
so if you could help out here, it would be much appreciated. TV is
obviously a big one, maybe once the ball is rolling with smaller things? I
can only think of something like the 10.30 slot as a real possibility.
http://go.to/cureoz also works now (instead of go.to/cure_oz) which is a
bit easier to read out over the radio etc.
As you say, anything we can do will help, and the more the better, if only
to the same organisations over and over. Its' only 48 hours and there are a
few signatures up, but obviously we need a lot more.
One person has volunteered to also do a paper petition in New Zealand,
which should help.
Anyway, let me know if the Sydney press respond. And any further
suggestions would be great - Thanks also for forwarding this to Descent.
I'd lost the details for it.
Fingers crossed,
Andrew

Good one! We need to get this advertised as widely as possible - beyond
babble and CoF. Are there any plans to get it on/in:

I'll try the street press here in Sydney, but it's probably better if all
the Australians on the list hit every site, paper and station they can think
of. You know, squeaky wheel and all that stuff...

I have that too...at the beginning, maynard says it's their idea of a joke
although they're not comedians which I though was still pretty funny :-)
It's actually snippits of both songs spliced together. Pretty cool if
you're both a tool fan and a cure fan like myself.

Subject: [babble] A Perfect Circle Lovesong
I'm not sure if there are a lot of Tool fans on here...but
if there is
you may know what I'm talking about. I just received an mp3
of a song
by A Perfect Circle (a group which Maynard of Tool is
singing
for)...it's called Diary of a Madman. Apparently it has
lyrics by
Ozzy Osborn set to the tune of Lovesong by our beloved Cure.
Maynard
sounds amazingly similar to Robert in it.
What I would like to know is if this is a sign that the
group or
Maynard himself has had influence by the Cure...or if this
is just
suppose to be funny...
Thanks!

Well, I've decided that I simply MUST do something if I'm not going to get
to the Jones Beach concert- possibly the last Cure concert ever. When I was
at the Toronto show a girl was giving out fliers for a special Cure fest at
the Rockit Club in downtown Toronto taking place this Friday, June 23rd. So,
I was wondering if anyone on this list wanted to organize for a bunch of
people to meet up and go to this. I'd like to finally meet some Cure fans
from Toronto, since I know none as of yet! A lot of my friends aren't 19
yet, and those that are won't go to something like this with me as they have
no interest. Please let me know if you'd be interested in doing this so I
can get a list of how many people might go together.

Hi. I was wondering if anyone who lives in Toronto is driving to New York

Sorry, but the song Diary of a Madman by Perfect Circle was mailed to
me by a coworker. I have access to it on an ftp server but I'm not
about to allow you guys to completely bog it down. If you would like
me to email it to you I will, make sure you don't have a restriction
on size as its 7 mb. Otherwise you'll have to go somewhere else for
it.

Hey all,
This can be found on Napster. I've seen it listed a bunch and I have it
on my list. If there are a number of people that aren't able to use
Napster that want this, I'll throw it up on a web page. Let me know if
you fall into that category.

ok i just finished downloading the diary of a madman (2-1/2 hours later...)
well i don't know if it was worth the time that it took to download that's
for sure. What I want to know is how does Robert feel about them using the
music from Lovesong? The version i downloaded is live, and I don't know if
that is the only way that it is available or not (maybe someone could clue
me in) but if it is published (i don't think that is the right word but you
know what i mean) than isn't it violating all sorts of copyright laws? I
would think that Robert must have sort of opinion on this. Has anyone seen
any comment on this from Robert? I don't know if I will keep this MP3 or not
yet. Did anyone submit this question for the live chat session on Monday?

Yes, they've been Cure influenced. Here's what was posted to A Chain of
Flowers by Scotty-Dog on June 12th:
"In a recent interview at DVD express.com with Billy Howerdel,
guitarist/founder of 'A Perfect Circle', he sites The Cure as a musical
influence growing up:
BH- "....Obviously, there are other bands I like. The Cure was probably my
biggest muscial influence."
And later in the interview,
"You mention the Cure earlier as an influence, I can hear that in the
record."
BH- "Yes, especially with the bass lines. They always had such a great,
melodic foundry for the song to be built upon. And I'm just a big melody
fan. I really like melodiousness in music."
That interview can be found at:
http://www.express.com/consumer/music/editorial/intv_circle_intro.asp "

Australian Fans:
If you're like me and wondering what's happening with the Australian tour -
there's an opportunity to ask.
Chain of Flowers posted a news item about an interview with Robert on June
19 where fans can send in questions. If a lot of people post and ask when
the Australian tour is happening we might actually get the question asked.
Not quite the petition that helped get them out here before, but at least
it's something.
To send in a question go to : http://www.getmusic.com/alist

The new Descent mailing list now has an archive. It can be viewed at

Ali (previous owner) also pointed out to me that an old archive of the

April 29, 1998 to June 10, 2000. This is available at

I think I found it......it's Adagio for Strings by Barber, as arranged
on an album by William Orbit....it's called Pieces in a Modern Set or
something like that, I can't remember right now. I picked it up at a
Virgin megastore. Pretty good album.
Happy hunting...
