Seconded. Brilliant stuff, Kim, I loved it from start to finish. By the
way, please email me off list to talk about your travel plans. I can
offer some advice and suggestions, having coaxed a fair number of
visitors over the ocean through the years...

I was going to say that also: nice work.

I just got back from the film shoot for the dance piece I scored earlier this
month. Lots of cool 3D production gear on set - this stuff is clearly turning
mainstream. We got to see some live 3D fly-though shots from the crane camera
and it was pretty impressive.

So much for the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 4: how long before the iPhone 3D?

Rule #1  Forget about those idiotic security patches.  Get a great first-rate
free Anti Virus / Anti Malware defender.  In my opinion (as well as Computer
World) the current champ is Avira followed closely by Avast.  Both beat Norton,
McCaffee (SP?) etc.  Avira updates at least 3 times a day.  Avast updates at
least daily.  Really, as a rule of thumb I TURN OFF automatic updates and
occasionally visit the update center to find it there is something I might
actually want.

In the event that a nasty does get by, you will want to get SyperAntiSpyware and
Malwarebytes Anti-malware

Thanks SO much for sharing this, Rus.
You did an excellent job. I love the mixture of classic Jazz with Hip-Hop
beats.
I also like discreet lyrics, preferably not so repetitious, but in this
case it works fine.
I'll be sure to pass this on to my Bronx "homies".

If you haven't played with Toxic Biohazard, for $49 I assure you that you will

almost anything you could ask for in an FM synth.

To all DS group members

If you have a website, and would like to help in the fundraising effort for the
proposed DS documentary, please reply with relevant info.

I have an official widget from the Kickstarter site, where the fundraising
effort is being hosted. It contains a direct link to the donation page, and it
also displays relevant donation stats that are updated as they occur.

Please let me know if you would be kind enough to post the link on your website,
and I'll provide you with the necessary HTML code. Any efforts in promoting the
idea and attracting more donors will surely benefit us all :)

Especially by the time we have the merch table out for NEXT year's event!

I had my first DS10 dream last night. I think I was mapping out the next two
months in my mind yesterday and this seeped into my sleep. We were rehearsing
on bleachers, which was actually kind of cool. There was good comradery. I
remember feeling both seasoned and a freshman at the same time. The rest faded
away upon waking.

So far, I'm really unprepared this year. I haven't done any programming or
sound collection. I'm sure that will change by the end of August, but it's
still a little unnerving. I think I'm going to bring my same rig, though I may
try to lower and angle the console box, even though it made a nice surface for
cords, hats and wine glasses. It has plenty of firepower and it's something I'm
really familiar with. It's too late in the year to change it up and feel
comfortable about it.

I look forward to the week, the friendships new and old, Sky Suite banter, and
the art we create.

I have several different ways I might go this time. I'll be taking a
look at the new Casio hammer-action keyboards, as I'm hearing a LOT of
good stuff about them - and they weigh less than the VFXsd does. I'm
also experimenting with an iPad/iPhone combination (Blekko bought us
all iPads to celebrate the start of the closed beta - speaking of
which I have invites if anyone wants one: new search engine with
transformation operators to slant the results the way you prefer) -
Jasuto Pro, Thumbjam, and maybe Morphwiz.

If the Casio works out I'm definitely going that way. May hook up the
laptop to run Oddity standalone for non piano/organ sounds. Working
out performance ideas for In C++; will want some drummers if we have
them!

If things go according to plan, I won't have enough space here to list all the
gear I'm bringing this year. In fact, it may literally require a 6'x12' trailer
to house it all!

Fair warning, fellow DS brethren :)

g,
so with the Scope, you also need a computer right? or can you configure it and
run it by other means?
i can't believe you had the stick there for a week and i never even touched it;
i guess i was too pre-occupied with trying to not make an ass out of myself on
the freshman go-around.

Looks like I may be Eventide central again this year with a new Scope Xite-1 for
running Modulars and various Scope synths (Moogs, OB's, etc.).
I may bring the Stick again.

Looks like I had better bring the V-Drums again this year! I'll also
bring a lappy and keyboard so I can hand off the kit to Rus and still
join in the fun (unless he can find a V-Drum kit TOO!).

I'm off across country to Nashville this morning for a month, but I'll
be checking in. :-)

This was a beautiful performance, truly moving to experience live. I strongly
recommend it ... the music is very Eno-esque and together with the video I found
it to be really captivating ....

Yeah, Scope environment runs on my laptop cabled to the Xite DSP box.

Last year I only played Stick on Johnathan's piece and some of the infamous
jams.
