Actually, I think that's roughly what I paid for each of mine.

I have a Blofeld as well. A whole different animal than the Plugiator. The
Blofeld is one of my favorite synths. And it can act as a rompler too.

The VL1m, of course, but that doesn't help since they're rare and
expensive. The VL-70 is expensive, too, by the time you add the Patchman
ROM.

For emulation, I gather the Roland romplers are a good fit with wind
synths. My favorite wind expander, though, is a Nord Modular of some
kind. On a good many synths, there's no way to turn off the amp
envelope, and it sometimes gets in the way; if you're neurotic about
legato playing, the envelope on some synths gives clicks or other weird
artifacts. With the Nord, your wind synth patches typically don't even
have amp envelopes, with the result that legato playing is pretty much
as good as on the older EWI hard-wired analog synths. Of course, the
Nord isn't good at emulating acoustic instruments, which means you're
never going to be able to sound like Kenny G, although I vaguely
remember working on a Nord patch that tried to reproduce the sound of
old Kenny being dismembered in a wood chipper.

Choose one:

A. "You say that as if it were a BAD thing."

B. "Oh my God, you killed Kenny! You BASTARD!"

The Blofeld is a bargain. Does it now come with the sample capability built-in?
I had to order that as an upgrade later.

I had a Microwave XT and an XTk and got rid of them both due to their large
form-factor, but really missed the sound. The Blofeld has it and more. Albeit
without all the fun knobs.

Every couple years, I call up my old jazz teacher and ask if there are
any good sax teachers in town. Then I tell him that I want to sound
like Kenny G. At that point, he usually says, "wait... is this
Doug???" Heehee!

Yeah, I'm a sicko...

Linda wrote back to me and provided the following ingredient list for
croissants.

Chocolate
Fruit (Joe McMahon can bring some, I will reimburse him, that would be
great)
Nutella (I have a jar)
peanut butter
bananas
eggs
cheeses (parm, cheddar, swiss, mozzarella)
ham
bacon
tomato
pesto
olives (please specify what type, green or black, I have monster greens
with jalapeno)
pizza sauce

So, no sausage or prosciutto, and no marzipan. You could try bringing
your own, I suppose. And I'll pass on other folks' opinions about
olives, but I hate the darn things myself.

Thanks for asking... :)

Met with THE i-pod, and THE i-phone, and THE i-Mac lead engineer/designers.

3 of the guys have been there for over 20 years since the Mac II days!

Anyways, they have no problem with my schedule through this month, so it looks
like I'll be at DS10!

Back on topic...

I'll probably be bringing a bunch of extra crap including mics, stands, an extra
guitar (for 3-level of severity equipment crash recovery), etc.

I also have an old Yamaha XG/GM 2-octave keyboard if anyone needs it I can bring
it.

Onward!

Congratulations! Also glad to hear that you're still able to attend DS! And
while you're suggesting stuff to bring, might you have an extra preview-type
monitor, by any chance? With regular RCA ins/outs? I might be able to secure a
video mixer just before DS, and a preview monitor could easily come in handy :)

Rus, I no longer have an old video monitor.

What I do have is my HV20 with semi-functional steadicam, tripod, and mono-pod.
I also have in-ear binaural microphones that I've used every year if you want to
use some ambient camera audio.

(Thanks a billion, Slate!) However, since he has an early flight home
on Sunday, he has to leave Arcosanti around 5 am! That's too early for
me since my flight home isn't until Monday.

I am looking for anyone who is hanging around on Sunday after DS and can

I'll buy a package of pepperoni and a couple green peppers. Need 'em for pizza
croissants.

Linda wrote back to me and provided the following ingredient list for

croissants.

***

Chocolate

Fruit (Joe McMahon can bring some, I will reimburse him, that would be

great)

Nutella (I have a jar)

peanut butter

bananas

eggs

cheeses (parm, cheddar, swiss, mozzarella)

ham

bacon

tomato

pesto

olives (please specify what type, green or black, I have monster greens

with jalapeno)

pizza sauce

***

So, no sausage or prosciutto, and no marzipan. You could try bringing

your own, I suppose. And I'll pass on other folks' opinions about

olives, but I hate the darn things myself.

Ok.. Even though the kickstarter didn't make it all the way for Rus' film
project, I have sent him my donation anyway.
I feel it is important to have a good DVD of this project. This is a tremendous
amount of work and time and to have a finished film documenting this event is
worth it...

Please follow suite if you made a pledge before, and if you didn't make a
pledge, make a donation now to help this be the best quality it can be.

cheers and have a great labor day weekend everyone!

Sounds like a good list. If we make the Costco run early I'll get some
prosciutto and maybe some other cheeses.

Okay - I'll bring whatever's good, fresh, and organic at the market. Stone
fruit and strawberries are the most likely, but I might come up with some
more interesting stuff (though I'll check with Shymala on bakeability
first). Any veggie requests? Working out my travel at the moment; ideally
I'll hit the farmer's market on Saturday morning and arrive on Sunday
sometime.

Cool thanks, Tony :)

Yes, DSers...I have devised a plan of last resort (aka Plan B) whereby I go
guerilla-style with one very capable & inexpensive camera, and no frills. The
Kickstarter campaign managed to raise a little over $2100.00. I appealed to
existing donors to make the best of the funds raised thus far. So far, existing
contributors have been quite supportive of the new streamlined plan, and almost
half of the $2k goal has already been reached! Please help make this documentary
a freakin' reality :)

Thanks to all who have supported the campaign so far. Keeping fingers crossed!

Sadly, the Kickstarter fundraising campaign failed to meet its anticipated goal.
If I let that stand, the documentary doesn't get made.

Searching for viable alternate options, I decided to take the reins and rebuild
from the ruins, so to speak :) With the pledged amount raised so far($2100.00),
it will be ample enough to cover the expenses of this greatly pared-down
alternative plan. Of course, if a higher amount is donated, that just means that
I'll be able to pick up some extra accessories like flash cards and batteries :)
So don't feel limited by the stated funding goal. However, there is still a
minimum amount necessary for any kind of suitable plan to occur.

This leads me to my next topic: additional equipment. If the new $2k goal is
reached, I will be able to pick up a very cool Canon 7D, which captures
fantastic HD video footage (albiet with recording time constraints). Aside from
that, I thought it would be good to know how many other likely camcorders will
be present at this year's Different Skies. Do we have a rough count of people
bringing camcorders? We can shoot a lot of decent extraneous HD footage with any
extra cameras, and use it in the final product. On the other hand, it might not
be a good idea to use many different cameras for the interviews, at least with
respect to visual continuity.

Having said that, how many attendees' video camera can shoot in HD at 60fps(or
higher), and at least at 720p? (Preferably full 1080p, but I can work with
either.) If so, it might actually be a good idea to set up one extra camera for
the interviews, shooting at 60fps from a different angle. This would save a lot
of set up time, to say the least. And the 60fps footage will be worth its weight
in gold during the editing phase :)

Also, I'll need some helpful input for possible DIY approaches to solving
filming dilemmas. For instance, how can we fashion some effective lighting for
the interviews? Or, make a temporary(and safe) camera dolly for nice slow fluid
camera movememt?

Also, due to the hugely streamlined nature of the alternate plan, I'll need to
borrow some decent lav mics for the people being interviewed. In addition to
that, a separate audio recording device would be wise in this regard. I could
synch up the audio to video later during post, especially if we establish some
sort of 'clapper'-style rule.

That's all for now. If I have any more to add, I'll make appropriate addendums.
