hi ed and all.
either method will depend on how tight your verticals are as to how far you will go with your diamonds, whether  you are using two verticals or three. I actually did a drum one time skipping 5 verticals. the only problem with that is you need to start with loose verticals. other wise you will not get two far.
I would think if you had to choose which weave produced the most pulling pulling, I would pick the Guinea weave or using three vertical. It is a standard for me to use that on  djuns.
