Greetings Drummers:
Drums not Guns will be hosting a djembe, ashiko and dounou drum
reheading
workshop, based on the Mali weave, led by Michael Kenny, Saturday,
January
10 & Sunday, January 11, 2004.
Cost $15pp. You'll need to be present both days.
1st day:
Preparing your drum, mounting skin
2nd Day:
Tightening the verticals, shaving the head, trimming.
We have nice goatskins from Mali, which cost $25 each, marine-grade
rope at
25 cents a foot, rope hooks and EZ Tuners ($25 for both).
This will be a good time for ya'll to learn how to reskin your drum.
Should
you want to learn the "how-to" and you don't have a djembe that needs
Reskinning, Drums not Guns has 4 djembe in need of new heads.
If anyone needs to rehead a dounou, please notify me at once so we
can order
you a cow skin. Cow skins cost $125 each and will cover two heads.
