These guys really deserve a mention for their shear determinaton and talent as
well as providing a great band with their own personalities and not being swayed
to change. They are from Reading and Paul the singer is from Basingstoke.

It was a fantstic evening on Saturday at the Camphill Club in West Byfleet and
the first time I had seen these guys. After being persuded from the locals to
come down and see them as they are great I was not disappointed. They are an
AC/DC and Thin Lizzy band and I wondered how on earth can this work and a singer
change his voice to match but my word it does. They are not a tribute band and
were quick to point that out. The venue was rockin and they had everyone up
dancing and how many encores were they asked for, to many lol.

Will be going to see them again thats for sure!!

House Swap aired today on BBC1. It was a very brief appearance but, nevertheless an appearance. Plus our poster was in clear view and we got a name check.

You can see the program for the next 7 days here

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00lbmgh/House_Swap_Episode_5/

We appear about 8 minute 35 second in...

Enjoy!

month for an episode of House Swap and we've just heard that the programme goes
out on June 19th at 11 in the morning. So set your Sky Plus' and have a look

Not sure if if there are any Roxy Music fans here but did say I'd post this on behalf of a friend as they are a 'local band' to me. Hope to be back online properly before the end of the year, hasn't been a good year.

Hey guys what has everyone been up to??? It is very quite.

I have been along to so many gigs and just really having fun.

Netherworld who have come on in leap and bounds are really getting a
good name for themselves and seem to just get gig after gig which is
fantastic news and also their own following.

Crywolf are still going strong and have just had a couple of weeks
without Tom and still managed to sounds and perform like true
professionals. Pars had played with Jason from Netherworld which was
amazing to watch, two guitarist of such high standard go head to head.

IntoDeep a newish rock band on the circuit who I have seen the last
couple of times they have played as my good friend Gary is in the
band and have supported him in his new venture.

There have been the large concerts Iron Maiden at Twickenham who I
was totally disappointed in with the sounds being terrible,
Whitesnake, Dep Leppard a totally amazing gig, Dio who even though he
is no spring chicken still manages with his unusal voice to knock the
crowd out!! Still have Queen and Motorhead to look forward to ;-)

Hope everyone is ok it seems an age since we all caught up..

Take care and keep gigging.... Sue

Hey Bob I will be over in October, November time so let me know when
the good bands are on out there... after your email lol

There are a few decent gigs happening now. Friday night I was at
Wembley with friends and my two nieces for the first of the Osmonds
50th Anniversary London shows - and what a fantastic night it was !
None of us could believe just how quickly the time went and before we
knew it, it was 10.30 and time to head home. Having never been an
Osmond fan back in the 70's, these days I am totally captivated by
them - they're so professional, highly entertaining and just so
downright lovely ! It was quite something to see all the Osmonds
together on stage but thankfully not quite so emotional as when Alan
came on and joined his brothers at their Hammersmith show a couple of
years back, when I think the entire audience was blubbing. Everything
about the evening was perfect - a well thought out show, superb
performances from all the Osmonds, good sound and a great atmosphere.

Last night I had thought of maybe checking out the sensational Kiss
tribute Dressed To Kill at the Standard in Walthamstow but, being
totally wrecked after spending most of the week in Cologne, opted to
stay in and watch An Audience With Neil Diamond. It was a very
enjoyable programme and I'd love to see Neil, who also has London dates
coming up soon but with the ticket prices somewhere in the region of
£70 - £80, I'll probably settle for buying his new CD.

If I recall correctly I think that the Glitz, Blitz tour is due to hit
the South East this week and David Essex is also touring now .....
though my next gigs will be The Pigeon Detectives in Brighton on
Tuesday night followed by Tiny Dancers in Islington next Saturday.

Hi Norm

It's been ages since we saw you was only saying to Deb and Chris last
time we got together had they heard from you.

Netherworld are a covers rock band, three piece, the guys have all
played in various other bands over the years and have put this one
together since December of last year. Jason is guitarist and vocals,
smithy on bass and vocals and Ian on drums.

Its been great to be there since the beginning and to watch them come
on and gell together.... excellent. They have a full gig list until
the end of the year.

They have a myspace page so check them out and hopefully be good to see
you at a gig.

Take care

Who is this Netherworld Band???? That seems to be all we get at the
moment - adverts for this band. I know a little has been talked about
them but really have no idea what their full set list is likely to be.

Suggest if you want people to see them, we get a little more idea of
what they do. I am not the only one - a few people have mentioned it to
me!!!

Hope you are all well - been a long time since i saw many of you,

I'm doing Jury Service at the mo ... or rather I'm supposed to be
doing Jury Service. The reality is that I've spent a lot of the week
just hanging around Croydon Crown COurt reading and chatting to the
other Jurors. Twice my name has been called as a potential Jury
member, twice I've gone to the relevant Court Room and had my name
called out to be on the Jury and twice the Judge has stood me down
because the cases were Government Departments prosecuting members of
their staff. Still it has meant I've been home nice and early each
day and had time to catch up with My Space and the new music I've
acquired recently.

Simple Plan finally released their third album this week and I'm
pleased to report that it's every bit as good as their first two. The
first track, When I'm Gone, has been around a while as it was
released as a single and is a good, catchy opener. After a few
listens I think my favourite track is Generation, which I recall from
the recent gig in Camden, but it is a very strong album and doesn't
have a bad track on it.

I've recently heard a song called Sunshine in The Rain by Swedish
band BWO played a lot on the radio. At first hearing it really
sounds like something that was released back in the 70's but in fact
it is a fairly recent single that is being rereleased in the UK next
week. The band cite their influences as including Abba and Kraftwerk
but I'd say they're definitely more Abba than they are Kraftwerk.
They've had several albums released in Europe over the years and
their first two albums are being released here on 3 March - best buy
being about £6.99 each from Amazon - and I'm really looking forward
to hearing more of them. Anyone interested in finding out more
should check out their My Space site at:

http://www.myspace.com/electronordica

and so to one of the best bits of news this week - Boy Kill Boy have
finally announced a London date at the Bloomsbury Ballroom for their
forthcoming tour. Needless to say that tix have already been
ordered !

Went along to a very packed Cardinal on Friday to see Crywolf. Great
gig with new material in the sets and a couple of resurrected ones
which went down a storm. Good to see so many familiar faces and have
such a good time with the off stage entertainment as well as on!

At last got to see Netherworld and enjoyed every second of it!! Great
bunch of friendly guys who are so appreciative that you have taken time
to go and support them. Enjoy the diversity of their sets always seem
differant never knowing whats coming next. Good comments from the
crowd but as usual always quick to compare... I always feel that if you
want all the bands to sound and play the same material it would be very
boring and why not just go along and watch the same old.... but you
cant please everyone. Once again our Dave got to swing his mic stand
around rather menacing... but belted out a fab Smoke on the Water and
Whisky in the Jar.

After seeing the guys struggle and having to work extra hard the last
few months I had the best time on Saturday night at Egham watching them
perform to the high standard I have come to expect.

It seems all the hard work has finally paid off and we are once again
back on track with new costumes and material.

Where did all that energy come from Leader I have to ask myself, non
stop magic... or was it you were so cold from the outside dressing
room it was your way of warming up!!

Great to hear some of the old tracks back in like She's got The Look
and The Queen Melody to a very appreciate audience.

Fantastic gig guys and a thank you to Carol for her handy camera work.

Good to be able to say 'You are simply the Best'.

Good to read in the press this weekend that the follow-up to Life On
Mars, Ashes To Ashes, starts on BBC 1 at 9pm this Thursday - that's
one night I certainly won't be working late in the office ! No Sam
Tyler this time, the new series is set in the 80's and will still
feature DCI Gene Hunt with sidekicks Ray and Chris who have all
apparently moved from Manchester to London.

In the meantime, I've acquired the box set of Starsky and Hutch - all
4 series of approximately 100 episodes on 20 discs. I started
watching them this afternoon though it's obviously going to take a
while to get through them all. Absolutely amazing value at under £30
from Amazon.

First gig of the year was Simple Plan at the Electric Ballroom in
Camden last Sunday. They actually played three gigs that day - all
in Camden - starting off at the Barfly at midday before moving on to
the Underworld (both of which were unplugged sets featuring their
first two albums)and finishing off at the Electric Ballroom for a
full show featuring a mix of old faves such as Shut Up, Addicted and
God Must Hate Me, plush some of the songs from their new album, which
is released this week. Looking forward to hearing the album in full.
If the tracks are all as good as the new single, When I'm Gone, then
it promises to be another cracker. Great to learn that Simple Plan
are back in the UK in April to play some more gigs, including one at
the Astoria on 18th. The ticket has been ordered !

Also on order is the debut album from One Night Only, Started A Fire.
The band supported The Pigeon Detectives on their recent UK tour and
are currently zooming up the singles charts with Just For Tonight.
Another band to watch out for in 2008 and yet another who hail from
Yorkshire so it looks like Leeds / Sheffield are taking over from
Liverpool and Manchester as the happening places for great music this
decade. Another superb artiste hailing from that area is Richard
Hawley. I've only just discovered his music though he's been around
a while, has had several albums out and seems to feature a fair
amount on Radio 2. Very different to the likes of the Kaiser Chiefs
and Pigeon Detectives but really nice gentle, soothing songs.

I agree Tina... Life on Mars was the best thing to watch on TV.
There are so many of us who love the programme at work we even have
Life on Mars evenings where we all get together and watch the DVD's.

I have been a fan of Bruce Springsteen since the early 80's and have
seen him in concert a few times and his shows are spectacular lasting
between 3 - 4 hours. He has managed to move forward with the times
and I think his new album is great.

Over the past couple of weeks I have managed to get to a few gigs
watching Twos Company a couple of times, The Look and Crywolf.

Enjoyed them all and appreciate them for differant reasons. All worth
catching in 2008.

This weekend brings MRG, Land of Kane and Crywolf....can't wait.

Starting 1st February are NETHERWORLD... I will post the dates and
venue on the site and hopefully see a few of you there!!

I have yet to make it out to a gig this year, though that should
change come Sunday when Simple Plan are at The Electric Ballroom in
Camden.

During this gig free time I've been listening to the new CD's I've
acquired - not to mention working my way through the boxed sets of
both series of Life On Mars, which has to be the best new progs on
telly in absolutely ages.

I've bought a couple of albums on the strength of hearing a track on
the radio that has really taken my fancy. The first one was Magic by
Bruce Springsteen, having heard the fabulous Radio Nowhere on Radio
2. Can't say I was ever a huge fan though I'm sure I've got a
greatest hits album somewhere. The album isn't at all bad, though I
it's still Radio Nowhere that I really like. The second album bought
as a result of hearing a track on the radio is This Is The Life by
Amy MacDonald. It only arrived today so I haven't yet had a chance
to play it but I think it's the first album I've ever bought by a
solo female artist, which must mean something !

One album which I've been playing over and over again is Street
Poetry by Hanoi Rocks. The single Fashion came out last autumn but
it's taken a while to be able to find the album over here. Still it
was well worth the wait as each and every track is great and the more
I hear the album, the more I love it. Can't wait to catch them at
the Astoria 2 in March.

I've also bought Yesterday Is No Tomorrow by New York group Stalkers
following a recommendation on Amazon and a quick listen to their
stuff on My Space. Amongst their influences they mention Slade,
Beach Boys, Buzzcocks, Bay City Rollers, Alice Cooper and Gary
Glitter so there is a 70's connection, though they sound a bit like
The Ramones to me on some songs. It's another album that is being
played over and over - take a listen to Let's Get It Together on My
Spae and see what you think - www.myspace.com/stalkers

It was a great weekend for gigs, starting off with Mercenary Rock Gods
wowing them in Wallington. Rob's voice was much the worse for wear
since he was suffering badly from a cold, but he bravely soldered on
(as always) with a few medicinal brandies (as always) and even a bit
of vocal support from a member of the audience during U2's Vertigo!
Pars, as always, flawlessly carried the evening and impressed a few
more new fans.

Saturday night brought an early start at the troubled Red Lion in
Twickenham. ...troubled as per the following sad little missive which
had arrived in my inbox the day before: "Due to being served with 28
days notice of being shut down by the environmental health dept unless
we dramatically improve sound levels, we have to stipulate that all
bands have soundchecked by 8pm, are on by 9pm and off by 11pm at latest."

For this reason, Cry Wolf made an early start at reduced volume, but
treated us to their usual polished performance, including the latest
entry to their set list, Give Me All Your Lovin'. More new songs are
promised VERY shortly, and I'm looking forward to hearing some old
favourites again as well! It was awful having to finish on the dot of
11pm, but that's the way it seems to be going everywhere. Let's hope
that the pub avoids being closed down as a venue... I couldn't stand
it. Certainly they went on to oppomistically book Cry Wolf right out
until December, so we'll keep our fingers crossed on that one.

Sunday was pretty low key, or at least it started out that way, with
just a bit of a mooch with friends in the afternoon at the very same
venue as the night before. Yes, it was the traditional Sunday jam at
The Red Lion, and delivered into my hands was an advance copy of the
live Strapps CD due to hit the shops next week, with a splendid job as
always having been done by Angel Air. Delivered into my ear was
something even more delicious, a rumoured appearance by a rather
well-known bass player that very evening at another local venue!

It was therefore off home for a quick munch and then straight on up to
The Globe on Brentford, for an early start, where the Lee Ryder Band
was performing, featuring Roger Brewer on drums and Simon Bishop on
guitar. The guys were certainly firing on all cylinders, and with so
many guests we had at times up to 7 people on that (tiny) stage at
once, two members even sitting in the audience as they played.
Delivering their own extended versions of blues-rock classics, the
highlight for me was probably the most glorious version of Little Wing
I've ever heard - with no less than three guitarists.

And then a very familiar figure was called up onto the stage to take
up the bass - Roger Glover from Deep Purple. I was grinning all over
my face, and everybody who HADN'T been pre-warned was utterly stunned
- and delighted. Somehow the band shifted up another notch again, it
was marvelous.

Afterwards it was great to have a chat with the band, and Roger, and
revel in the fact that only in England could you rub shoulders in a
small pub in Brentford with a perfectly down-to-earth, unassuming guy
who just happens to be part of one of the hugest bands in the world.

For Simon, it's the second of the Deep Purple bass players he's played
with, as he's alongside Nick Simper in the Good Ol' Boys, and he was
awfully chuffed when I pointed it out to him. What a sweetheart!

What a weekend...! And I have another one coming up very shortly, with
the annual Blackfoot Sue reunion coming up!

No rest for the wicked - and I wouldn't have it any other way. :-)

Tonight is night 2 of a week of evening programming about pop - right
through the eras, right across genres... lovely stuff.

So much for getting an early night's kip after a hectic gigging
weekend... bring it on! :-)

After carefully thinking of where to go on New Year's Eve and wanting
to have fun and not be far from home, it was off to Binfield to see
The Look.

Having three new members in the band and performing three sets the guys
did a great job. Good to hear the Christmas songs and a couple of
classis Knocking on Heavens Door and a great version of Tie your Mother
Down.

The venue had a packed dance floor with a great party atmosphere and a
good time had by all. What better way to start the new year.

Look forward to fantastic 2008 from these guys.

Well 2007 was certainly an interesting year music wise. I thought I'd
jot down my top three fave albums of the year but there were so many
good releases that I've had to expand that somewhat, so here, in no
particular order, are the CDs that I've been playing over and over
and over again:

Heart Tuned to D.E.A.D - Switches
Yours Truly, Angry Mob - Kaiser Chiefs
The World Is Outside - Ghosts
Wait For Me - Pigeon Detectives
Free School Milk - Tiny Dancers
New York Kiss - Retrofect
Once Upon A Time In The West - Hard Fi
We'll Live and Die In These Towns - The Enemy
Calling The World - Rooney
These Things Move In Threes - Mumm Ra

This has to be the best time for great innovative music in the last
30 years and still to look forward to in 2008 we have new albums from
Boy Kill Boy and Simple Plan, the debut album from Elliot Minor and
hopefully the release of the new material previewed by the Kaiser
Chiefs on their recent tour.
