It is likely that many of those on this list will not
have heard of John Peel but has a had a small impact
on your lives, unless you've never listened to the
likes of Pink Floyd for example. It was Peel who as
one of BBC's first DJ's who played music by bands that
would not have got airtime otherwise, and so introduced
them to wider audience than they would have had, and so
in turn to the world, for some.
His shows had no jingles or any other of the nonsense
that afflict most radio programming, he eschewed any
sort of stardom and just played the music. His only
flaw being a fondness for Liverpool FC.
