DRIVIN' RAIN NEWS LETTER
AUTUMN NEWS- NOVEMBER 13 2001
It's that old spooky tike of year again, when the leaves change colors and fall from the trees. A cold night air feels your lungs. The days grow shorter and people begin to move indoors. Its Autumn and this is your new DRIvIN' RAIN NEWS LETTER.
The DRIvIN' RAIN boys have been busy this Autumn with several shows around the midwest. Two shows at Mudd's Memories in Ashley Illinois. "We just love Mudds its a very kick ass black light club with lots of old rock posters and show bills." Say drummer G.P. Clark. The band also did another show in Ashley at The Last Call. "It was cold as hell but we drank enough Jack to warm us up. The truth is we just love to play in Ashley because the people are so cool. And I have a lot of family not far from there." Geep added. DRIvIN' RAIN will be booking more shows in Ashley soon. Keep a eye on our show dates page at www.DRIVINRAIN.NET
DRIvIN' RAIN did another how in Cape this fall. They played with local punkers I.D.C. Greg Wolf basest for DRIvIN' RAIN told us about this show. "A very good band that reminds me of Green Day or Blink 182. I.D.C. asked us if we would play a show with them. And we want to play all the time so we said yes." The show was tons o fun and DRIvIN' RAIN hopes to play with our home boys in I.D.C. again soon.
On September 28 and 29 the Raingang rocked the City Of Roses Music Festival again. At the Friday Night shows DRIvIN' RAIN had a blast playing with Coeli, Steppen Out, Krimzin and others. But on Saturday DRIvIN' RAIN did two shows at this years fest. The first earlier in the day DRIvIN' RAIN took the main stage to do a opening set for Eddie Money and Lee Oskar of WAR. Two large stages were set up on two barges set on the banks of the Mississippi in Cape Girardeau Missouri. DRIvIN' RAIn did a great all original set. "It was wild" Timexx remembers. "We had like a crowd in front and people in boats behind us. It was very cool to be like ON the river playing." Eddie Money took the stage over later and blasted through a string of hits like "I Wanna Go Back", "Two Tickets To Paradise", "Take Me Home Tonight", "Shaken", "Walk On Water" and other massive radio hits. After Eddies set Lee Oskar a former member of the 70s band WAR took over the River Front Stage. And rocked the night away with classic WAR hits like "Low Rider", and "Cisco Kid" plus other top hits. Lee preformed with the ACME BLUES BAND and THE WATER STREET BLUES as his back up. However as Oskar was rocking the Main stage DRIvIN' RAIN did another show on the Metal Stage at Mollies where the joined Tribal Dust, Emaciation and Dillagence for a all out Metal Assault on the City Of Roses. DRIvIN' RAIN was also featured in that nights Local News on KFVS TV 12 a CBS Affiliate. The 2001 C.O.R. fest was a blast and the Raingang can't wait for next years Fest.
On Friday November 9th DRIvIN' RAIN headlined another music festival in Jackson Missouri. When the stormed the stage at The Jackson Jaycees's Community Center at Metal Fest I (Autumn fest 2001). DRIvIN' RAIN unvailed two new songs "Radio" and "Nail In My Coffin" when the band played them LIVE for the first time. The opening bands were Coeli, Knotted Fear, Boko, Thred, Verdigris, Tribal Dust, Emaciation, and Jackson heros Pollyduster. This was a all ages event and over three hundred people packed in to the Community Center to rock hard and heavy with the best of Local Metal. Metal Fest is part of the Four Seasons Metal Series, and DRIvIN' RAIN as already signed on to do three more Metal Fest next year. And the band says a LIMITED EDITION DRIvIN' RAIN CD will be sold at the Metal Fest II on 02/02/02. The disc will feature four DRIvIN RAIN songs and a glow in the dark cover. KICK ASS!
In October the Offical DRIvIN' RAIN website was forced to move from its .COM to a new .NET site. "The old one was stolen from Internet Terriorst. Timexx said "Our webmaster was in the hospital and the site came due again. Well within 48 hours this guy from N.J. bought it up. I caled him and sent some e-mail to try and buy it back. I told the guy how it was a mistake. But he refussed to sell it back saying he thought it would bring a good price for him on the market. He's just holding it for ransom I guess. But I we'll just have to leave him in the hands of Karma. I'm sure his life sucks anyway." So you can now find the NEW DRIvIN' RAIN website at www.DRIVINRAIN.net. Please change you links and bookmarks if you have any. It took awhile to get every thing switched over to the .net site thats why the e-news letters are running a bit behind. The new site already has new features. Like a new message board, Lyrics page, Photos, and new MP3s are going to be put up soon.
DRIvIN' RAIN will not be doing any LIVE shows in December or January as they will also be moving indoors to cut new tracks at IBS STUDIOS 2 in Cape Girardeau Missouri. Kenny Keller ex-Beggars Jury member and long time friend of Timexx and Tommy will be turning the knobs and doing the mixing for the new CD. "We're going to revord 11 songs for the new CD." Tommy told us. We'll be working very hard to get it out by Summer 2002. Toni McCormick is doing all the art work for the CDs. Toni is also producing a DRIvIN' RAIN DVD for winter release. It will featuere live footage, interviews, TV footage, and more.
The boys will be back out again on Febuary 2 2002 when the blast METAL FEST II this time at KAOS in Cape. As well as shows in Ashley, Carbondale, Vandaila, and Mounds in Illinois, plus lots of new Missouri dates. Your Winter News Letter is on the way and we hope to see you on the road.
