I live in Conyers, GA; which is not the most happening hotspot for the
Dead Reader. I was wondering though; if there are some events that
maybe I have missed. I just found out about DragonCon and Tribalcon;
but I would like some events that interest me to go to in my area. Are
there any Drop Dead Events in Conyers, GA area, Decatur, GA, or
Atlanta, GA, USA area?

The largest Gothic- Punk Post-Punk Festival in the world selects Lisbon, Portugal for 2008!

Drop Dead Festival, the largest deathrock, gothic punk music festival in the world hits Lisbon, Portugal in 2008. Lisbon was chosen as the location for the festival in 2008 for its outstanding beauty, great music and art atmosphere, an ideal location connecting the West and Europe. The festival will take place over 5 days, through October 8-12 and will include the best new and the established acts of the gothic, batcave, deathrock, punk, wave, psychobilly, and horror related genres of music.

Drop Dead Festival started 6 years ago in the legendary New York City club CBGBs. Initially filling a void for USA underground music festivals, Drop Dead quickly became the world's biggest and most important festival championing an eclectic collection of independent gothic punk, post punk and weird wave music, moving to Europe in 2007. With more press attention and more fans flying in from all over the world, the festival grew to be a 5 day event which included multiple clubs and an international lineup of bands, as well as international DJs and promoters. One of the biggest ongoing goals of the festival is to actively help, create and support the existing international DIY network of clubs, bookers, bands and DJ's.

Drop Dead Festival has hosted hundreds of the best, brightest and most interesting new and old bands including German diva Nina Hagen, new wave shining stars Lene Lovich and Mona Mur, UK's psychobillys legends The Quakes and Coffin Nails, gothic legends Sex Gang Children and Ausgang, and anarcho punk originals Rubella Ballet. The festival is also famous for special events like a DIY punk jacket showcase, movie screenings such as the cult classic Forbidden Zone (complete with question and answers with director Richard Elfman), giveaways from underground artists and companies, a large vending bazaar, and much more.

For most fans attending the Drop Dead Festival every year from every corner of the world, this is not just the place to discover music and meet friends; it's the best, craziest party of the year.

Although Drop Dead Festival is an international event, this year's unique location is a perfect chance to immerse in local music and attractions. The festival kicks off on October 8 right outside of Lisbon at one of Portugal's world famous beaches, returns to Lisbon for October 9, 10, 11, and finishes at the beach on October 12. Festival organizers are collaborating with the local music production team Lisbon Decay and will also showcase music from Portugal and Spain throughout the festival. This event will give the rest of the world a wonderful opportunity to enjoy and learn about Portugal as well as experience its rich musical culture.

More then just a show, Drop Dead Festival is a unique gathering of tribes with many activities in store. On 19 April, SIIIII will make their Germany debut at the
OUTSIDER-PARTY 15 in Braunschweig! Some of you might already know them
(for example from the SMOKE AND SPOTLIGHT compilation Vol. 2), for all
the others, here's a short band history:

Siiiiii were born in early 1983 when singer Paul, then only 19, moved
from his native East Anglia to Sheffield purely to be in the band,
joining guitarist Mark and bassist Angie. Taking their name from
William Burroughs' "The Soft Machine" they gigged extensively during
the early to mid 1980's and possibly hold the record for the amount of
times they were nearly signed to record labels. Siiiiii disbanded in
1986 and the members went their separate ways. Mark went on to play in
the Anti-Group and Paul became involved in The Niceville Tampa (now
Niceville) and later with DVO in South Wales. In 2005 having been
"rediscovered" following a chance meeting of emails between Paul and
Mick Mercer, the band are back writing some incredible new material
and cleaning up the analogue tracks from those early years. . A new
generation awaits them. Wonderful things shall occur.

A must for all "Old School Goths", Deathrockers, and Post Punkers!

we have been playing this game on the ny decay forum. Its a sort of mock competition of which country has more points (each ticket to Drop Dead Prague sold so far = 1 point) (you can see more info and get tickets online from http://dropdeadfestival.com/ddpragueinfo.html )



Ok here is the tally up to now.

So far we have tickets sold to 17 European countries.

We are working on Issue 4 of the Drop Dead Magazine now. Issue 4 will be in stores late August early September

We were invited to the Gothic Pogo Party to premier the new issue at their festival. The 5 day festival went smashingly well and we had a crazy whirlwind 20 hour a day party. We sold out of the new issues within a few days. we sold out of all the rest by the end of the fest. I got to say first time for that.

Loads of people helped us man the booth. I grabbed willing and unwilling. Basically if you came over to say hello to me you were in danger of being forced into serfdom. Many Drop Dead Writers were at the event as well as many bands we cover.

Thanks for every one who helped us, bought the magazines and shared this crazy party with us. Most of all thanks to Maria and the rest of the Gothic Pogo Crew. We love you guys!

Calling all European Promoters and Club owners

 

We will be doing a European Drop Dead Promo Tour tentatively scheduled for August – September before Drop Dead Prague.

 There will be 3 permanent DJ’s on tour

- Me

- Lakini Malich (Din Glorious singer, Drop Dead/NY Decay DJ

- DJ It Sicko (Gothic Pogo Party, Dead bat Dance)

- We will also be joined by one or two Drop Dead associated guest DJ’s from all over the world at each gig.

+ We will have Drop Dead Magazines and will be able to set up a release party in each location if you like.

+  We can set up special things at each location like giveaways from Drop Dead Festival Related bands.

+ The whole tour will be promoted heavily by all the members of the tour. We will be printing flyers and posters as well as doing loads of internet promotion

 Promoters:

We are looking for booking in every country of Europe.

If you would like to book us and have a specific date or dates in mind please let me know.

I might be able to help you book a band for that night too if you like

DJ’s:

 if you want to be part of this tour please post dates you are available and your country. You don’t have to be booked for Drop Dead Prague this year to participate but those DJ’s will be give a preference

Don't know if you already heard ,the show tonight is moved to the Pyramid Club . independents canceled their whole tour but instead of canceling everything all together we will invade the pyramid club . Look for us downstairs. Me ad Dan DJ'ng and Din Glorious doing their one year anniversary shows. All that for only 5$! Debauchery is sure to follow

and next week also on Tuesday same bat time same bat place a Set by one and only Lucas from Deadfly Ensemble and Cinema Strange
