DRUMMERS FOR JOY
Please help a child out this Holiday Season. If you can donate an
unwrapped toy, clothing, or even school supplies, it will go to a
good cause. You can mail items directly to them, bring them into the
Tuesday drum circle, or even call them to see what a particular child
is wishing for. The true meaning of a life, is not what you have, but
what you have given.
The organization in Pinellas county, provides support for children
whose parents have AIDS. Some of the children were born with AIDS,
some were not, but all of them are struggling. Most will not have any
holiday joy unless those more fortunate help out.
Many drummers are compassionate, giving people.
The organization, called ASAP (AIDS Service Association of Pinellas
county), solicits people to help out a child by supplying gifts for
the holidays. The children are allowed to put down 5 items as a wish
list. These are kids who will put things like underwear and socks on
their wish list. If you choose, you can call and ask to select a
child or children. They will send you a wish list. Both the
recipients and the donors are kept anonymous to protect the privacy
of both.
But, the organization will accept any kind of donation: food, toys,
clothing, school supplies, gift certificates, cash, even holiday
wrapping paper, and distribute them to the most needy.
Donations can be mailed or dropped off to their headquarters at:
The AIDS Community Project,
1214 Cleveland St.,
Clearwater, FL. 33755
or you can call them at (727) 449-2437.
There is another location in St. Petersburg. Call (727) 328-3260 for
the address.
If you are in the area, you can bring donations to the Dunedin
Brewery Drum Circle every Tuesday from 8-11 p.m. and we will drop
them off prior to the holidays.
Hope to see you this Tuesday to drum some - and help some.
Thanks,
Shannon
