Hello all i,m also new to this group. What Mike is telling you is
excellent advice,i only bought my first drum kit two months ago and
i,m practising rudiments also,and i,m using a metronome witch is a
great help.follow mike,s advice it will work out.One more thing,
don,t worry about your age .I,m only 48.
best regards
juggernaut.
. Welcome to the group.
The postings here are few and far between at times though I would love
to see that change.
To your question.
First off are you learning hand drums or to play a kit?
I play both by the way.
If you are learning to play hand drums I would recommend finding some
one else to practice with. That way you can learn new rhythms and have
help in maintaining your tempo.
If you are learning to play a kit or snare with sticks there are two
schools of thought on the way to hold the left stick and it depends a
lot on what is most comfortable to you and to some degree what you
play for music. The old school way of holding the left stick is in my
opinion the easiest to learn the fundamentals with. Though the new
school holds both sticks the same. As you pointed out the left hand
does not have the same dexterity as the right. Old school has you
holding the left stick with the palm up make a peace sign and rest the
stick under your thumb. You might find it easier to get a good roll or
flam this way.
You might also want to use a metronome
No matter what you are playing the real trick to improving is practice
practice practice.
Mike

Hi Guys,
I have a CASIO keyboard. Needless to mention that YAMAHA's background
rhythms and tones sound far better then those in CASIO, I was
wandering if there is a place where I can download YAHAMA background
Rhythms(specially from ROCK and FUNK families) and tones(strings) in
midi formats. I have a software that can convert the standard midi
format to a readable format for CASIO, so that I can upload those on
CASIO. CASIO allows me to add upto 16 custom background rhythms and
more than 40 tones.
Please Help !!!!
Thanks and Regards,
Chirag C. Patel
please send me a set of good starting paradidles for experts

Hello,
I would like to know if you use drumpatterns.
I know the documentation is bad.
What new features or improvements would you like for
the next release?
How about a page of bookmarks for the better
exercices you found?
PS: Your feedback is my food :-)
Hey, gang. I just bought a Rogers bass drum shell (20x14) of the 'Holiday'
series. I
am told that it is mid 60's era. I would like to know if anyone knows
ANYTHING about these shells...as in, how much it is probably worth, etc.
Someone has emailed me offering a Powertone shell for trade, also in WMP, and
I am wondering if it is a fair trade....but what I really want to know is ANY
information ANYONE can give me
about both of these series. Thanks!
I USE FRUITY LOOPS & CAKEWALK AND I AM HAVING PROBLEMS FINDING DRUM PATTERNS
FOR THESE FORMATS. IF YOU CAN HELP PLEASE CONTACT ME. THANKS

Sorry for the delay.
Traduction: How can I run drumpatterns on Windows with Apache web server ?
The current release 0.51 won't run because it uses tclmidi, pipes etc. Those
features aren't available on windows boxes.
I wrote a version that is purely Perl code. It it less fast than tclmidi, so
I keep tclmidi until I find a better solution.
I will release a new DrumPatterns version soon in order to make it work with the
new and paranoid configuration of the site "www.linux-france.com". I'll try
to think about the Windows limitations.
Is there someone using DrumPatterns ?

DrumPatterns is a free, open source, web oriented drum patterns generator, whose purpose is to help teach drum patterns. It can teach the rudiments as well as advanced rhythms. It can output characters, score, or Midi, and includes hours of samples.
