hello friends!

well, it's that time again. another new episode of 'Duran Duran - In
Review' is up. this is a very special two part episode!! part one is
a summary of the concert at the seneca casino in niagara falls, ny on
nov. 4th. part two is a video podcast! this is a 6:48 montage of
images from the show. if you have a video ipod, you can simply
download the video episode and put it on your pod just like any normal
episode of the show. if you only have a regular ipod, you can
download the video into itunes and watch it on the screen that is
built into itunes. (hint: click once on the small screen on the lower
left corner will make the screen snap into the centre. from there,
you can resize it to maximize/make it bigger!)
if you don't use itunes, you can go to
http://www.switchpod.com/cats.php?a=622 and click on the file. a
window will pop up that gives you the option to download the file or
you can just let it load and watch in in the browser. if you download
the file, it can be viewed in quicktime or any software that can play
an mp4 file.

enjoy the show!
derek...

hello all,

the ep is lost!
i can't recall what it was about and the notes are not super clear.
it's file name would be :

DuranDuran-InReview-5.mp3

if someone happens to have that one on their computer (itunes library)
or ipod and can email it to me, i would appreciate it! i accidentally
overwrote ep 5 with a chunk that led to ep6, the pe special.

so email me at:

XXXfigitalatgmaildotcomXXX <remove XXX and translate.

thanks!
derek...

I still have the Planet Earth special on my iPod. What was the topic
of Episode 5? I might have that too.

this is a bit of a pain in the butt for me actually. my podcast host
crashed not once, but twice and i think they have lost some of the
files. someone told me they couldn't find the planet earth special
either. i will try to get it sorted but it might just be missing.

Hi Derek,

Great Arcadia special. I have to admit that of all the albums released
by Duran Duran/Power Station/Arcadia, the first and only Arcadia
release is my favorite one. As you mentioned, it is an atmospheric
album. All the tracks are incredible. I find it has aged very well. I
have the feeling that Nick played a leading role in this album.

Thanks for this new (it is new to me!) version of Rose Arcana. Wow, it
just blew my mind...do you have any other Arcadia treasure like that
in your vault?

Cheers,
Martin

hello,

well, this is a very good topic. i personally feel trading should be
encouraged as long as no one makes any profits. i think fans should
be able to have all the cool underground stuff. i have spent a lot of
my life collectiong awesome stuff that tons of fans have never heard
and i want to give them that chance. that being said, i don't want to
piss anyone off either.

people should try to help the fans out who never had access to cool
materials and file sharing is one way that this can be achieved. many
people feel this is not the case. record companies and other such
parasites think otherwise. well, if they really cared what we
thought, they would issue all of this stuff for us to buy. i have
hundreds of duran duran records. what makes them think i want to
"steal" from them? i'd buy live shows from 1981 if they were selling
them.

so, that being said. go wild with the trading. i hope some people
can pad their collections with good stuff.

my find of the week is '1981 live off the record / chichester fest' on
video (mpg). 24 mins. great quality. it looked so dope on my
projector!! i'd been waiting to see it for 23 years ;-)

bye,

let's not bring poor steven into this. he probably loves duran duran
and has the good sense to stay quiet if he doesn't!! so you know, i
used a program called 'read please' to dictate the text of the review
into my sound recorder. i couldn't stand to read such crap in my own
voice. i'd hate people to think for a second that any of that dreck
would come out of my mouth!

amen. and if ash selfridge wrote that in his/her review i would have
had heaps more respect over the whole thing.

i think a review from a fan carries more weight than some jaded journo
who can't even write. imagine having to pick on someones weight just
to fill words in an article. oh what a sad society we have escalated
to...

thanks for the nice mail to bring it back into balance!

welcome to the group. :-)

the podcast is growing very fast. in just about 4 months we have
almost 1200 subscribers and over 11000 hits. if you know some duran
fans or people who like music, art, films, etc. tell them about the
show!! i'd love to get over 20,000 hits by sometime in march!

Hi to all,
Forgive my delay (only just listened)but i wanted to comment about
the review by stephen hawkins on a recent podcast - (no offence to
stephen hawkins)
The gig was abosulety fantastic - a real treat as they played a lot
of the lesser known stuff - yes a few people we talked to after the
show were a little bemused and annoyed that the band didnt play this
or that particular hit song - but wow!! what set list!! having seen
the guys at st andrews and been totally blown away i thought that
nothing could top it - but earls court was a real thank you by D2 to
all of us die hards that have supported them throughout. I suppose
that it boils down to the fact that you can't please all of the
people all of the time, but I wonder how many other bands would would
take the time to even think about doing something a little out of the
ordinary.(I wonder if this guy had only ever listened to 'Greatest')
Who cares if the earls court wasn't full - I dont really have
symapathy for the fools who tried to rip people on ebay and then got
stuck with the tickets.
As for the sound - awesome, as for getting older, wiser, a little
forgetful, and having a few suits that dont fit quite as well as they
did - well i suppose that happens to us all at some stage!

Horloge Biologique - A product of the flourishing Quebec movie
industry
Syriana
The Constant Gardener (the book is good as well)

The bad shit...
The religious right is the US
Death of Peter Jennings
Mark Chapman's album (the album signed by John Lennon before his
murder) that is on sale (it is nice to collection rareties but in
that case, it crosses the line)

hello everyone,
there are a few pictures added to the photo section.
some of them pertain to things that get mentioned in the latest
episode, so depending on how you like these sorts of things, look now
and get excited by the intrigue of it...or don't look as to not ruin
any surprises.
bye for now,
derek...
