Dear Gino,
>>>>i want to ask susan maclagan what she means with "modern flutist".
In the introduction I stated that: “The modern flute is properly called the Boehm flute. It is widely used and differs in only minor ways from the instrument introduced by flutemaker Theobald Boehm in 1847.”
>>> in my wiew all antique flutists are all dead... why so much historical facts and photos in this dictionary for the modern flutist?
In the introduction I stated that “the entries include the most common flute-related words that a player of the modern flute may encounter.” This is why I included them and also because to really understand the modern flute, I firmly believe that one must understand its history. A good example of this is the G# key. To really understand why most flutists play flutes with a
closed G# key today, you need to understand the history of this key. I discussed that in my definition of the G# key.
