TALLINGTON DETAILS:
Here's another one of those depressingly upbeat and optimistic messages from
Blyth Power, announcing great and wonderful things. This week it is great
and wonderful indeed, for it is the run up to our own Tallington Ashes
Festival, and this year we are even prepared to miss the final of Big
Brother in an effort to bring you the best in underground entertainment, bad
cricket and fine locomotives.
Here's the plan.
Tallington, on the A16 between Stamford and Market Deeping, has a level
crossing over the East Coast Main Line, beside which lies a pub called the
Whistle Stop, with a campsite and a beer garden attached, a handy garage
shop across the road, and a selection of real ales calculated to appeal to
those for whom the traction-action is not enough. This is the location for
Blyth Power's 'We Didn't Want To Play Cropredy Anyway' event, at which all
those artists not invited to mix with the great and good get to come and mix
with each other. And play cricket. Here's the programme:
Friday:
From 8pm until 11 there will be acoustic sessions, including Mr Joseph
Porter, Mr Wob Williams, hopefully Mr Jessi Adams and Mr Chris Butler, and
anyone else who turns up and wants a go.
Saturday:
12.00pm Blyth Power (matinee)
1.00 pm Eastfield
1.50pm Giga-0
Cricket will be played between 2.30 and 5.30. While the ashes are fought
over on the campsite, there will be an open mic on the stage for any
solo/acoustic singers, comedians etc.
PLEASE NOTE: ANYONE WISHING TO PLAY IN THE CRICKET MATCH NEEDS TO BE THERE
AT THE START, AS THE PREVIOUS YEAR'S PRACTICE OF TURNING UP LATE AND
SECURING VICTORY FOR WHOEVER WON THE TOSS AND OPTED TO BAT SECOND IS SIMPLY
NOT SPORTING. This year, we don't mind how big the teams are, as long as
they're equal.
6.15pm General Winter
7.15pm Rome Burns
7.50pm Rachael Pantechnicon
8.15pm Daddy Those Men Scare Me
9.00pm The Boy Williams and his band Silverleaf (Wob)
10.00pm Blyth Power
Curfew is 11.00.
Sunday:
Music will be between 12.00 noon and 2pm, and will definitely involve Blyth
Power. Further details will be confirmed as we go along.
There is a new landlord this year, who has been very helpful, so buy lots of
his beer, pay for the campsite pitches and try not to wee everywhere.
See you at the hop.
