Creative doesn't care about any emu or ensoniq hardware it seems... I
am awaiting a response from ranger audio, i've been in touch with them
for a week or two.

I opened up my EPS and found it's 3 voltage regulators that are heating
up the heatsink this much. I can't believe they don't blow up. I think
i'll replace them some day.

If you need parts of manuals for the EPS i know route 66 studios carry
brand new replacement floppy drives and other things.

Have a nice day, thanks for the hint :)

Please be patient with Ranger-Audio. Could be that they are on shut-down.

Maybe Creative do not respond for after sales service on a 1 to 1 basis due to too many enquiries.

Better measure the voltages on those 3 regulators.

Could be that some IC/s on the main board are drawing-up more current then they should - difficult to tell.

The heat-sink gets hot but not that much that you shouldn't be able to leave your hand on it.

If you've fitted a memory expander (like I did) this draws more current. If so, try removing it.

Many thanks for your comments and suggestions.

Wish you luck,

noel

Subject: Help with Korg Poly 61
jay.pollard@...

Hi everyone. Found this message board on synthzone.com and it seems
like there are a lot of you out there who might be able to offer some
advice on my predicament so thanks in advance.

I recently bought a Korg Poly-61 with a corroded battery. The unit
powers on and it worked briefly but now when I turn it on, it lights
up but the LED has gone dark and it makes no sound. The Program,
Parameter and Write switches are all light up simultaneously. The
Frequeny and the Arpeggiator pots have small LEDs which are also lit.
That's about all it does. None of the other switches seem to be
doing anything -- the unit is acting like it's frozen. I lifted the
hood and it looks like the fuses are still intact but the battery had
a lot of crystallized corrosion on it. I swept it off and the circuit
board has a little bit of damage from the corrosion but it doesn't
really look that bad. It appears that I might be able to remove this
particular circuit board without having to cut anything as it looks
like it's wired with white plastic plug connectors like you find on PC
circuit boards. Would this be something I might be able to repair
myself knowing pretty much nothing about circuit boards? I found some
kind of step by step guide on to replacing an old battery in a Poly 6
online which is very similar to the Poly 61. The local repair shop
charges USD $55 just to diagnose the problem which I'm willing to pay
but who knows what kind of a can of worms I might be opening to have
it completely restored there. If this were your synth, would you
bother with it?

thanks!

It's a repair guide for the polysix (not the same synth as yours tho...)

The best tip i can give you is the one that helped me at all times :
take your time.

I am a novice too but last year i built an x0xb0x kit. Worked right
away, it took me 5 times more hours than what i had heard of other
people but it was worth it because it worked in the end.

Keep us informed about how it goes :)

I used to have a poly 64 years ago.  I think they are very similar.  Try reprogramming with the original system setup which came with the keyboard on a cassette tape.  If you do not have it, You could probably find the file at Korg on the net and record to a analog tape.  Also, see if the power supply is giving out the right voltage.  I hope this helps a bit.

Hi

I've replaced the battery in a Yamaha SPX90. The new battery seems
OK, but despite doing the factory reset I'me still gettin the "Battery
is low" warning after the main power has been switched off for a
while. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Is there a second battery
I'm unaware of? Can any other condition (faulty memory, perhaps?)
trigger the message?

All and any help appreciated!

I have a Korg sp200 stage piano. The upper octave black keys have somehow lost
their
damper making them clunk in use. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to open
the
keyboard cover to access the mechanism? Is there a repair manual that can be
obtained for
general repair and maintenance. I think the repair for this problem will be
simple but I'm
reluctant to start unscrewing everything at once.

Hello everyone - my first post! I just acquired a Juno 60 in pretty
good shape. The keyboard needs some overhaul, probably bushings
replaced(?) because some keys stick. I have the service manual but
they dont mention what type of keyboard it has. It kind of looks like
Pratt-Reed but not sure. Anyone know any info on these Roland
boards? Thanks everyone

Ok, here's an exotic one- the Dalek's handbag bass version! Just
scored it, bass guitar part works great(pickups, pickup blend pot,
volume pot, tone pot) both thru the 1/4" out and thru the 24 pin cable
then thru the floor unit synth out, although slightly less than unity
gain. The synth module itself seems to be fubar, though, only the 1st
led display lights up, then with strange characters or an 8, dot
flashes when I turn the parameter knob on the bass, but no other leds
light up at all and the synth module itself makes no sounds, just both
active and bypassed bass thru, which work fine. I believe the 24 pin
cord is good, and the controller(bass guitar)is ok, the problem seems
to be in the floor unit/synth module, or maybe the interface... I
understand this unit is based on the jx8p, but there's no midi in to
test the sound module, only midi out.

Any ideas? Any sources for parts, info, service manual, or even a
tech capable of actually fixing these?

I have a ARP synth with several slide pots loosing their carbon
compleately. Allmost all of the pots are 1 meg or 100k, have made in

rpl's. The tuning pots were untunable. I rpld them with 2 ten turn
pots in the blank area of the panel, but others need to go into the
proper place on the panel.

I'm a novice here, but with a $50 keyboard, I'll give anything a shot:
my poly 61 (which worked fine two weeks ago) has the first 5-6 keys in
tune working fine, and the next 6-7 are a completely different sound
and change pitch each time I hit the same note.
This continues all the way up the board, alternating every few keys,
the battery has given up the ghost, so to speak, so thats one visual
diagnosis,
any recommendations, condolences?
thanks for any feedback,
Nick

I've had this fine keyboard in my home for 7 years and have had no
problems...

now my C#6 does not return(sticks)when played... Bummer! I have
repaired many electronic devices in my life, worked as a bench tech for
Pro video equip... So I believe I can repair this, but before i remove
ever screw in the cabinet, someone please offer me instructions on how
to open this case and a lead on what might be wrong and how it may be
fixed...

many thanks...gi

For most players, the realm of classical guitars is one that they'd
just as soon avoid. The scale length is different, the neck is wider,
and they're harder to play, so why bother? Why? Because the world of
the classical guitar is definitely one worth exploring and one that
will reap incredible rewards the more you explore it. A well-executed
classical passage within a rock song can give an air of class and
distinction to the music, not to mention adding a great break in the
middle of the song. Playing classical guitar, even if you use it
traditionally (playing simple fingerpicked parts, strumming and
single-note lines) can help your playing take a giant leap forward.

Classical guitars are very, very similar in their construction to
traditional acoustic guitars. The body is smaller, but the bracing
methods and wood types are simillar. The necks are wider to
accommodate your fingers, the nylon strings give the classical guitar
its distinctive tone, but most players with average-size hands find
that this transition isn't as difficult as they first may have
pictured it.

What can a Classical guitar do for you?

Well, give it a try and you'll find out a whole new world.

Hi, I recently purchased an M1, very nice, but the e flat key doesn't
respond like the other keys. It doesn't matter how hard you hit it,
it always sounds the same, with the low volume. The velocity
sensitivity doesn't work. Is this an easy fix? Any ideas?

try cleaning it a bit, i had this problem once and it turned out a hair got stuck between the contacts, after removing the velocity sensitivity worked fine again.
if this doesn't work, you could try to find a replacement part.
good luck!

When I turn on my keyboard with the speakers, there is a horrible loud
roar. I believe it's the keyboard and not the speakers, but? What can
the problem be? Thanks for your help. S

Hello everyone
I am writing here because I'm looking for 2 spare parts for a
Korg 'classic' Triton Pro keyboard (76 keys model). The parts
(integrated circuits) are:

- PCM1716E/2K
- UPC4570G2-E2 (SOP)

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for these 2 circuits but so far I
haven't had any luck. I'm a professional musician living in Colombia
(South America) and I even traveled to NY last year and made the
purchase by phone at korgparts.com (the official distributor of
Korg's spare parts) but after 3 weeks they came up with nothing.

I'm really urged to find these 2 integrated circuits (I've been
looking this parts for more than 2 years now!) because I don't want
to lose this expensive and beautiful keyboard. I even tried to buy
them directly from the chinese manufacturer but apparently the
circuits need some programming from Korg (i'm really not sure about
that as I'm not an expert on electronics). I have a person here who
will repair the keyboard but he needs these 2 parts because the
circuits seem to have burned from static.

Has something similar happened to anyone here?
Can any1 help me?
Thanx a lot

sounds like a loose connection; have you opened it up already to see if the drawbarboard is still connected; usually it's connected via one set of wires, i don't have a CX-3 myself though....
good luck!

I'm trying to find parts or information on self-centering
potentiometers, like those used in pitch-bend levers, could anybody
help point me in the right direction? ...all I've found so far are
