Hi there John,
There is a way that worked for me a long time ago it takes about two
weeks (2-3 hours a day):
1. Find a piano !! - Yes a piano !!
2. First work on the coordination of your hands. (Because playing
the piano means using more power of your fingers - it'll improve
the factor of playing the Electone by at-least 3.)
3. After 3-4 days or so it'll be enough for you.
4. Go back on the Electone.
5. Remove your shoes (hope you have clean socks there..)
I've learnt that unless you're shoe size is 40 or less (US 8-9 or
less)- it'll be better for you without them (but WITH socks).
6. Play only the bass pedals (You can use the Step-1-2 books for
simple melodies for playing with your foot WITHOUT LOOKING !!
(And that's very important – don't look.) )
7. Slowly but gradually - start accompanying your "bass-played-
melodies" now with your left hand on the lower manual and your
right hand on the upper - doing the same part as your left hand -
as follows:
a. Full pad-style chords. (whole notes)
b. Half notes (if possible if not skip to the next level)
c. quarter notes.
d. Triple notes – "Trios"/"Triola" (especially for 3/4 or 6/8
styles)
e. "Free style" - make up what ever you like !!! - Just for fun.
8. Use your right-hand for playing the same part as the bass.
9. Stop and don't play for 3-4 days and THINK about the coordination
(it's called "internalization" and it's effective exactly as
practicing.)
10. Start "fully playing" simple melodies you know by heart, or from
up to Yamaha's step 4 level (including).
11. Play them again - but now try to INVENT YOUR OWN accompaniment
of the left hand + bass. (A change in the rhythm style can be a
good catalyst.)
12. Congratulations - you're healed !!!
Hope it'd helped..
Yours,
James Cohen - Israel.
