Adrian,
You could try a cleaner such as: -
http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~57937~/AF%20FLOPPICLENE%203.5%20%
20DRIVE%20CLEANER%20(10%20CLEANINGS).htm
but I am not very hopeful. Are the disks you are trying 720K (i.e. with one
hole, write protect), or 1.44M (i.e. with two sense holes, one permanent,
one to show its high density). The sense rod that senses the high density
hole can stick. I have not taken an EL90 apart but I would expect that the
drive is a standard 1.44 M device.
possibly a "low power" one.

Subject: [Electone Club International] el90 disk drive
Hi all,
I have in my living room two EL90`s-one loaned and the other has
just been given to me.Both appear to have problems with the disk
drives with format and bad appearing nearly every time.
Can the disk drive heads be cleaned and failing this can new disk
drives be obtained and how much?
Incidentally, both homemade disks and Yamaha Registration disks are
the same.
