> Santakrusan follows the journey of Elena, a single mother who works as a club
dancer at night to make a living for her, her young daughter and her mother. Her
journey starts during her preparation for work in a low-end club and ends by the
time she returns to their home which illustrates her journey towards utmost
fulfillment and contentment despite the harsh conditions of her environment. The
film follows her journey from pain and struggle, to liberation and empowerment.
This experimental film takes inspiration from magic realism, high
fashion, social realism, performance art and even silent cinema in creating a
contemporary ‘santakrusan’.
