Celebrity Emaxes Where are they now?   Message List

Re: [emax] Re: Celebrity Emaxes Where are they now?

I don't know what all the aggro is on this thread.... I think it'd be
really cool to have an emax used by a musical hero.

I am very very lucky to have a TR727 that was owned by two musicians
that are special to me, and just having it around makes me happy. No it
does nothing that any other 727 can't do, and to be honest I don't even
really use 727 sounds, but I'll never sell it. Because they used it in
making one of the 5 most musically important albums to me, ever. Its not
about being a gear collector as such, or being a creepy stalker, but
about having a physical link to music that's important to me.

but yeah - back to the emax - the idea of having the actual sound banks
to play with would be even more fun. imagine listening to a live version
of one of your musical heroes tracks, then going throgh the sample bank
in the sampler and learning how they put together the banks for
performing that track... even sitting at home in your studio and jamming
along with the live recording. that would be really fun.

And seeing how very few people on this list are actual professional
day-in day-out musicians, our emaxes are mostly for hobby use or at best
semi-pro use.. and in that case, shouldn't it be about fun and having
things around you that you love, as much as anything else?

and now all this rambling has made my brain dredge up an old quote it
stored away.... I remember reading this quote in a magazine once, from
some famous guitarist (maybe neil young??) who was talking about how he
loves picking up and playing old guitars, because they've been used by
people to sing songs and express themselves, and the old instrument is
full of stories and emotion. I always liked that idea.
