Okay so this review isn't exactly of a show but I thought some of you might be
interested. If not, I apologize in advance for the temporary intrusion to your
inbox. If you don't care about Coke then I suggest you stop reading now and
delete this email. Sorry for those of you who get this twice.

I recently had the opportunity to enjoy a Coca-Cola. Only this was a new
Coca-Cola. It was the new product dubbed "C2." Half the calories, half the
carbs. But what does it taste like? I'd have to say it doens't lose much.
Looking at the label C2 actually has LESS than half the calories of a regular
Coke*. 45 calories as compared to 100 on Coca-Cola Classic. Total Carb for C2
is 12g compared to 27g for Coca-Cola Classic. Sodium is still about the same.
30mg for C2 and 35mg for Coca-Cola Classic.

It doens't taste like a diet drink (as I half way expected it to.) It has all
the full flavor of a coke only it still feels a bit empty or lacking. To
resolve this, simply put some rum in it. Yes, that was a joke but I have a
feeling that Bacardi jumped the gun on their commercials about a rum and coke
being healthy if you have a rum and DIET coke. I believe that a rum and C2
would taste better. I digress. The lacking or empty taste isn't because of
formula. It's just been proven time and time again that you can't make
something healthy without changing the taste or leaving something more to be
desired. This review is coming from a hardcore Coca-Cola Classic drinker. If
you see me in a resturant ording a drink where only Pepsi products are served I
will most likely have tea or a root beer. Then it is likely I will not go back
to that resturant because I'm like that. I do have to give props to Regal
Cinema Fiesta 16 theatres in San Antonio though who now have Coke instead
of Pepsi. Call me petty but I would not like to go to that theatre because
they didn't have coke. At any rate, for a hardcore Coke fan such as myself, I'd
say it's interesting to try at least once. You might like it. I know I will be
buying more of it because I can honestly say that it's not bad. A word of
caution: It does contain Phenylalanine. I put that in bold cause it is bolded
on the C2 bottle. Look it up on Google if you don't know what it is, but
apparently it's an amino acid that snythesizes dopamine. Maybe that's why i'm
feeling happy right now. But any soft drink is empty calories. I just figure
if you're gonna drink empty calories you might as well drink a C2 and have half
of the calories to burn off. I don't say it'll cut your workout time in half
but you can lie to yourself and shave off 5 mintues from time to time when
you're tired and it will be partially justified.

*comparison based on 20oz bottles of C2 and Coca-Cola Classic. Serving size for
both is 8fl oz and both have 2.5 servings per bottle.

this is from Emily's diary dated February 19:

Que Paso?
February 19

I write to you from the beautiful beaches of Ixtapa, Mexico where
Charlie and I have been on vacation for the last 2 weeks. I was in
desperate need of some sun and exercise after Christmas. For some
reason I don't really feel in the Christmas spirit unless I eat ALL
the cookies I baked.I know it might be hard to picture me in the
kitchen, but try your best. Anyway we've been boogie boarding,
surfing, deep sea fishing (I caught my first sail fish and am having
him/her mounted), tanning, playing tennis, riding bikes, catching up
on books I've wanted to read, walking on the beach, dancing to
Outkast (they're new album is so addictive.I highly recommend it)
and just generally relaxing.

Gus is just so happy to be able to run around naked and swim. He
started walking around his first birthday in November and hasn't
stopped moving since.
Nothing is more pure and wonderful than little naked baby buns
running on the beach!

Charlie is just so happy to be able to run around naked and swim as
well. No amount of protest seems to matter. I guess I am just
jealous that he doesn't have tan lines.or shame.

We of course brought the guitar for late night sing-alongs and
Charlie has been writing for his new album that he starts in
February. Lloyd (Nat's dad) will be producing the project.

I've been working on my Spanish but I might have gotten a little too
confident in my abilities. I just realized that I've been telling
waiters I was "handsome" when asking for the check.oops.

Adios amigos,
Emily

This was posted on the country_fans2003 group by eblamo from Austin.
Since I live close to New York I'm gonna try to find out if this
movie will be shown at the IMAX theater there. Seeing Emily on a
huge IMAX screen, that would be something :):)

Our Country
Showing May 15, 2004 through September 10

Our Country traces the development of country music from the last
century to today using rare historical footage, spectacular IMAX
shots filled with today's country stars, and, of course, music that
ranges from the soulful tunes of Jimmie Rodgers -- the Father of
Country Music -- to the jazzy influences in "16 Tons," to the
patriotic climax of "Living in the PromiseLand" sung by Lee Ann
Womack. Over 50 of country music's top stars – including Dixie
Chicks, Lyle Lovett, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Earl Scruggs, Dwight
Yoakam, Vince Gill, Crystal Gayle, Trisha Yearwood, Alan Jackson and
others – are spotlighted as they perform the classic songs of the
past 100 years in settings as varied as the canyons of Utah, the
mountains of Appalachia, the deserts of California, and the stage of
the Grand Ole Opry.

hello, I just joined this group.

I am one of the biggest fans of Emily Robison, one of the most
beautiful women and one of the most gifted musicians on the face of
the earth. Being a guitar player myself, I have always been so
impressed by her virtuoso banjo playing and her uncanny ability to
play everything else

I saw the Cicks last summer at Madison Square Garden. This was the
day I was introduced to Michelle Branch who has turned into another
favorite of mine ver since. This was probably the best concert I've
ever been to in my whole life. The Chicks took on the road the
largest stage and the best visual show ever taken on the road by a
musical act, not to mention the breath-taking performance. I want to
highly recommend their latest DVD which documents this tour

I got this in my email today. You can get free shipping if you order from here
and use "novship" when checking out. It sure beats $18.99 for gauranteed
shipping from Music Today (which is what the official Dixie Chicks site use) and
the price for the CD and DVD is pretty much the same. You can even get a free
chicks poster with your order. Figured I'd pass it on to everyone.

COLUMBIA RECORDS PUSHES RELEASE DATE OF DIXIE CHICKS'
EAGERLY-AWAITED TOP OF THE WORLD TOUR LIVE 2 CD SET & DVD
UP TO FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21

Overwhelming Demand For New Dixie Chicks Concert
Material Sparks Rush Release Of Album & DVD

(dateline - New York - Open Wide/Monument/Columbia Records - November 18, 2003)

In response to overwhelming popular demand and in a move to thwart internet
piracy, Columbia Records is pushing the release date for Top Of The World Tour
Live, the eagerly-awaited double CD set and DVD chronicles of the Dixie Chicks
record-shattering 2003 "Top Of The World" tour, to Friday, November 21. The DVD
and CD editions of Top Of The World Tour Live were originally scheduled to be in
stores on Tuesday, November 25.

Top Of The World Tour Live was recorded live on-stage during the North American
leg of the Dixie Chicks historic 2003 world tour, which consisted of 79 shows in
North America, Europe and Australia. The album and DVD bring together definitive
performances of songs from all three of the Dixie Chicks multi-platinum albums:
1998's Wide Open Space (the best-selling debut album in country music history),
1999's Fly (the first album by a country group to debut at #1 on the Billboard
Top 200) and 2002's Home (which earned the Dixie Chicks the distinction of being
the first country group and the first female group, in the SoundScan era, to
have had two #1 debuts on the Billboard 200). The 2 CD version of Top Of The
World Tour Live features 22 songs by the Dixie Chicks while the DVD showcases 18
songs and includes the bonus video, "Top Of The World."

Shortly after the Dixie Chicks announced the group's "Top Of The World" tour at
a press conference in New York on February 20, 2003, the buzz was on. The group
rapidly sold more than 1 million tickets for the 66 North American shows on the
"Top Of The World" itinerary, with 51 shows selling out completely on the first
day of sales. In fact, first day's sales for the "Top Of The World" tour--some
867,000 tickets--were the largest in music history, eclipsing records set by
Madonna, U2, the Rolling Stones, the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, and Paul
McCartney.

Along the "Top Of The World" tour route, the Dixie Chicks were met by cheering
fans and a fervent press. "....when the Dixie Chicks step onstage," wrote Dave
Ferman while reviewing a Dallas performance for the Star-Telegram, "all is right
with their world -- and with their fans'....They received a fitting welcome from
a sold-out American Airlines crowd -- which is to say, the
all-ages/more-women-than-men audience went crazy from the beginning of the first
song, Goodbye Earl, and hardly let up all night."

"Maverick defiance has always been the best part of the Dixie Chicks' appeal,
along with the determination to hold onto something down-home as they reach for
a mass audience," wrote Jon Pareles in a New York Times review of the Chicks'
Madison Square Garden performance. "Ms. Maines makes her voice leap and break in
honky-tonk style, and the other two Dixie Chicks are not only singers but
something rare among country hitmakers, female instrumentalists. Martie
Maguire's fiddle and Emily Robison's banjo put a bluegrass streak into the
band's arrangements, one reason they have been able to conquer the country
mainstream without succumbing to it formulas."

Michael Eck, reviewing an Albany, New York show for the Times Union, put it
succinctly, "....the Chicks have changed the face of country music of late; and
the women have done it by playing music of great melody, integrity and
attitude."

Well if an American President can marry his cousin, so can Slade! Ha! Okay so
I might have been a little drunk when I wrote that and wasn't really thinking.
Either that or I just wasn't thinking cause it was too early and I got drunk the
night before! Either way, I do hope Martie's pregnancy goes well. If she has
two boys, two girls, one of each or "other" I'm sure they will be the cutest
kids ever. Since they'll be twins, they might have their own TV show sometime.
Like Mary Kate and Ashley only it'll be called "Chickletts" or something. Or
Martie's kids, Slade and Gus could all do a show and call it the "Chicky Chick
Club" (similar to the Mickey Mouse Club) and they could do songs and dance etc.
"Now it's time to say goodbye and go back to the coop. C-H-I...I love the
chicks! C-K-Y...Why? Because we like you! C-H-I-C-K!"

The Dixie Chicks' tour bus was rear-ended by a motorist in a wee-
hours accident this week outside San Antonio. Only Chick Emily
Robison was aboard at the time, and she was not injured.

Launch.com reports that the luxury coach was parked alongside a busy
highway and blocking part of a lane at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday when
it was rammed. The other vehicle's driver, identified as Larry Cox,
told police he momentarily took his eyes off the road.

Police say the bus driver, Ross Ellis, was partially to blame for the

Actually if you layed in traffic, you'd probably just hear a bunch of car
horns. But I understand. I love her voice too. Natalie does a good job
but Emily is way talented. Emily could go solo if she wanted to.

Yes she sure does. Anyone out there with some pics of Emily from any of the
chick shows recently? I've saved a few but none I've considered to be just
awesome. (Mainly due to the fact they were blurry or far away etc.)
