NINE INCH NAILS, MOBY TO JOIN DAVID BOWIE AT GLASTONBURY

After much speculation, the full line up for this year’s Glastonbury Festival has been revealed, with NINE INCH NAILS, MOBY, TRAVIS, the BLOODHOUND GANG, FATBOY SLIM, BASEMENT JAXX and many more joining previously announced headliner DAVID BOWIE. The massive festival, held north of London, takes place June 23-25.

LIL’ KIM RETURNS WITH NEW ALBUM, FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE

After being pushed back repeatedly, LIL’ KIM’s second album will finally hit stores on June 27. “The Notorious K.I.M.,” named in tribute to Kim’s slain boyfriend NOTORIOUS B.I.G., features guest vocals from SISQO, MARY J. BLIGE and co-executive producer SEAN “PUFFY” COMBS. Kim will also be performing at the Vibe Live festival at Disney World’s Pleasure Island resort in Orlando, Fla., June 8-10, joining the ROOTS, BLACK ROB, DOUG E. FRESH and MOBB DEPP.

SOUL LEGEND JOHNNIE TAYLOR DIES

JOHNNIE TAYLOR, the “Philosopher of Soul”, died late Wednesday in Dallas, Tex., from a massive heart attack. Taylor signed with Stax Records in 1967 and hit the top of the charts with “Who’s Making Love,” which sold two million copies. He topped the charts again in 1975 with “Disco Lady.” His most recent release was “Gotta Get the Groove Back” in 1999.

METALLICA LAUNCHES NAPSTER FORUM

In order to keep fans up to date with the war against NAPSTER, METALLICA have launched an online forum on the subject at www.artistdirect.com. Beginning this  week, the band will check in on a semi-regular basis to post progress reports on its legal battle with the music-trading software maker.

This year’s Digital Club Festival, which will cybercast shows from New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago and more cities during the week of July 22-25, will feature performances by BLINK-182, WILCO, X, STEVE EARLE, SONIC YOUTH and more than 200 other acts.

MGM is re-releasing “This Is Spinal Tap” for a limited theatrical run. A DVD of the mockumentary, featuring more than a 100 minutes of bonus material, hits shelves on Sept. 12 . . . Fat Possum recording artist R.L. BURNSIDE, who recently finished recording a new album for the label, was admitted into a Mississippi hospital last week due to a heart ailment . . . MOBY won awards for “Best Album” and “DanceStar of the Year” at Thursday night’s DanceStar 2000 awards in London . . . HYPE WILLIAMS will direct L.L.COOL J’s video for “Imagine That,” the first single from his forthcoming “The G.O.A.T.” album . . . BEENIE MAN has been named “1999’s Top Reggae Artist” by ASCAP’s Rhythm & Soul Award committee . . . Jazz guitarist JOE PUMA died of cancer at the age of seventy-two Wednesday in New York. His last album, “It’s a Blue World,” came out last year.
