Subject: FW: my e-mail to Psychogeography.co.uk

dear sirs,

you haven't responded to my suggestions of reviewing susan buck-morrs
books for yr site, so i offer myself again to review her latest book
about dreamworlds and utopia

i would also like to review ann game's 'Undoing the Social: Towards a
Deconstructive Sociology, Open University Press, Toronto University
Press, 1991, and, with Andrew Metcalfe, Passionate Sociology, Sage,
1996.

on another matter, your response to my questions about contemporary
psychogeographic practice and zines was that these strands do not
occupy yr thoughts and u cannot do them justice... this is fair enough,
but i am concerned about the absense of such contemporary movement in
our discipline from a site with the potential influence and stature (in
historical terms) as psychogeography.co.uk

i have much respect for the work u guys have obviously put in to this
project but would urge u to treat the work done by groups such as
london psychogeographic, manchester area psychogeographic, workshop 4a
non-linear architecture etc, with the respect that they deserve in
developing this dangerous and marginalised discipline.

i would be more than happy to write a piece on these groups 4 u also: i
did recommend john eden (reffered to as jonni paradise in my last mail)
at turbulence ( http://www.uncarved.demon.co.uk ) in my last email to
you: did u communicate with him at all? i say again, that he would
probobally offer material 4 free, as he does not usually practice
copyrighting.

i realise there is a schism between 'pro' and 'post' situationists ,
much like the one suggested by you as between the situationists and
surrealists, in the present movement of psychogeographical practice/
praxis and i would hope that yr site will heal the rift through being
inclusive, rather than exacerbate it thru exclusivity.

i hope to hear from you soon (ish)

and older mail::::

> Hi, Hi,

>We received your e-mail to Psychogeography.co.uk. Thank you.

u are very welcome

> Stewart Home does not occupy our thoughts very much.

he has written extensively on and practiced psychogeography during the
90's and, i think, is therefore crucial to any genuine attempt to
historify, progress or practice psychogeography

as he does significantly occupy my mind as a psychogeographer, i would
be willing to review his work 4 the site

>Last we heard the LPA > had disbanded.

ok so it's not technically 'new' but last i heard the SI had disbanded
too (!!!) i think they have some very valuable insight into the
practice of psychogeography and users of your site need to be made
aware of their research and practice...

As for current zines like 'cntrl-alt-dlt', it's not an area
> that we feeredt we could currently do justice.

i feel i could do it justice and would be very happy to write some
reviews on any of the above... in fact the reviews already exist at
turbulence http://www.uncarved.demon.co.uk/turb/articles/index.html

but i think that your site needs to also represent these voices...
jonny paradise who runs turbulence would probobally be willing to give
u the reviews as long as the copyright remains open

> Too much bad blood between situs and surrealists. That's a whole new project
> in itself.

yes: a long and painful path inward... i agree it would not be a very
useful or profitable journey at this juncture

> Thank you and u and u

heres some of my old writing: http://c6.org/evol/hthhmhgl.txt
i would hope to write more clearly, cohesively, pointedly if i was to
write 4 your site, but u can get an impression of what i'm on about

best luck 2 u

xasim
