King Louie & the Loose Diamonds
Memphis Treat
(mtr420)

http://www.emptyrecords.com/empty/releases/record_detail.asp?intRecordId=239

A truly amazing all star band comprised of ring leader King Louie Bankston (Persuaders, Kajun SS, Exploding Hearts, Black Rose Band), Jack Yarber (Oblivians, Cool Jerks, Tearjerkers), Harlan T. Bobo (Viva L'American Deathray Music), Adam Woodard (Tearjerkers), and Chad Booth (Kajun SS). These diamonds are in fact not so loose, but tight, and covered in that Memphis grease / power pop that you just can't wipe off. The Diamonds began recording this gem at Easley Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, but when an electrical fire broke out that burned the whole studio, the boys thought the album was doomed. Luckily and eerily enough, the masters came out unscathed. Not being able to finish there, they recorded the three remaining songs at Jimbo Mathus' (Squirrel Nut Zippers) Delta Recording Studio in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Jimbo even contributed some of his guitar handy work on a few songs. The two sessions were then mixed by none other than Jim Dickinson, who has recorded and produced Big Star, Tav Falco, The Replacements and has played piano on Rolling Stones and Flamin' Groovies albums. Through scabies, fire, and disaster this record has survived it all and has landed on your turntable. Enjoy.

Lover!
s/t
(MTR419)

http://www.emptyrecords.com/empty/releases/record_detail.asp?intRecordId=238

Lover! is a power pop explosion fermented in the Psyche of Rich Reatard (Lost Sounds, Reatards, Knaughty Knights, American Death Ray). Teaming up with Greg Roberson (ex-Reigning Sound, Arthur Lee's LOVE) Rich drags you through his experiences in the deep south town of Natchez, Mississippi. These tunes capture recollections of friendly animal poachers, in the closet crane operators in the gulf of Mexico and pure blood lust for the men who had kept him down while he was there. The result is a variety ranging from Tuesday night despair to Friday night revenge in the vein of the Undertones or Cheaptrick and maybe a little Monkees. Come on, get on board!

Pure Country Gold's debut lp avaiable now.  100 come on gold vinyl via
mail order.

The best rock and roll has always seemed to have a devil on one
shoulder, an angel on the other: While the angels promoted melody and
harmony, the devils preached energy and urgency. While Pure Country
Gold believes that music is best when informed by both of these
sides, on this debut album it's clear that they've given a stronger
ear to the latter. These 10 songs of R&b-laden garage-punk roll with
enough good-time, hard-shuffle exuberance to flatten a house party.
Guys and girls will be bobbing their heads and tapping their feet,
trying to keep time while holding on to the floor lest they be blown
away by Pure Country Gold's wall of raw melody and rousing backbeat.
Each listener will be left with a similar sense of euphoric
exhaustion, stepping away from the speakers grateful that no exorcism
has ever managed to remove the devil from rock and roll.

Holy Crap. Its actually been a year since I sent out an update. So I
figure a few folks receiving this are going to forget they signed up
and think its spam. I got a bit to content using the website and
myspace. Sorry Folks. I'm only going to mention the latest releases
instead of trying to catch up for the whole year...

P.S. Not an Empty band, but family none the less, word has come down
that the Knockout Pills are calling it a day :)

Here are our newest release and well worth the trouble to check out.
Scroll on down to get more details on each.

Bamboo Kids - Feel Like Hell LP/CD
Destruction Unit - Death to the Old Flesh LP/CD
Digital Leather - Monologue CD
Snitches Get Stitches - Even A Butched Carcass... CD
Blank Its - Happy Accidents CD/LP

==================================

Bamboo Kids - Feel Like Hell
http://www.emptyrecords.com/empty/releases/
record_detail.asp?intRecordId=235

In a culture growing tired of itself, it's rare that you hear a band
that might actually still give a shit. Pounding out rock and roll
devoid of irony or trends, New York City's Bamboo Kids seem to be one
of only a few bands that have no wall dividing their hearts from
their music. No wall dividing gutter fun from social conscience.
Cheap booze and sex share the same space in their world as Iraq and
civil rights. The Bamboo Kids have taken the celebrated garage
rawness of their self-titled first album and injected it into a much
fuller and more powerful sound. There is no filler on this album,
only rock and roll at its finest. Thirteen rabid songs that make
America's idea of heaven feel like hell and hell like a place you
just might want to go on a Saturday night.

==================================

Destruction Unit - Death To The New Flesh
http://www.emptyrecords.com/empty/releases/
record_detail.asp?intRecordId=236

Back for a final conflict is Destruction Unit. This last
collaboration between the trio of Jay and Alicja of Lost Sounds and
Ryan Wong will shatter your world. . Developed by Ryan Wong in the
Arizona desert sometime in the past, the Unit unleashed the "My
Disease" recording on Discos Cagados and debut "Self-Destruction of a
Man" in 2004. The out-of-control beat met with electronic keys, a
deafening guitar and damaged vocals that wanted you dead. Fueled by
an unknown disease that mutates in the sun. So, stay in the shadows.
Go out at night. Destruction Unit is here. And it wants you dead.

==================================

Digital Leather - Monoloue
http://www.emptyrecords.com/empty/releases/
record_detail.asp?intRecordId=232

Taking cues from late 70's/early 80's synthpunk pioneers as the
Screamers, Nervous Gender, and The Units, this Arizona based one man
band rely on just keyboards, drum machines and vocals to set the
scene of gloomy electronic desert landscapes and gay night club
discotheques. This is the life of Sean Foree, who created this
masterpiece in his one bedroom apartment in Tempe, Arizona. Live he
borrows members from the Wongs, Reatards, Lost Sounds, and
Destruction Unit. Ten tracks that are sure to appeal to fans of the
current rebirth of keyboards in punk... but this record surely pushes
the boundries of that.

Snitches Get Stitches - Even A Butched Carcass Can Shine
http://www.emptyrecords.com/empty/releases/
record_detail.asp?intRecordId=233

Like a blood-engorged death tick buried neck-deep in Seattle's
blubbered underbelly, Snitches Get Stitches are a fearsome reminder
that the neutering needle of domesticating commodification has not
pricked every band. Stripped down to the power of three, SGS are a
battle-hardened trio of gutter veterans who've led corpses into war
on the scenes of LA, NYC, Miami, and St. Louis before running ram
shod over Seattle's precious taint. Their first release, "I Liked You
Better When You Were a Corpse" sent a spiral of confused critics into
the unanimous decision that: a) SGS's rock is fucked and b) SGS
fucking rocks. Their second release, "Even a Butchered Carcass Can
Shine" takes their first release, hangs it from a hook, slits its
throat, and carves it for sport. Faster. Meaner. Rottener.

==================================

Blank Its - Happy Accidents (MTR413)
http://www.emptyrecords.com/empty/releases/
record_detail.asp?intRecordId=231

Plopping out of Seattle with the likes of the SPITS come BLANK ITS.
Likened to the Buzzcocks these guys (Justin:guitar, Betsy:bass and
Jon-Paul: drums) have a sound that's gonna make you wanna! As
Smashing Transistors put it "... Mangled two finger chords...and a
high-strung backbeat... Think of them as if the Urinals at their most
agitated writing songs they'd like to hear the Monkees cover..."
Still rooted in the Northwest, these guys have played throughout the
Midwest including Horizontal Action's Chicago Blackout with the
Pagans, and in Hamtramck by themselves, and just recently at SF's
Budget Rock. This debut full length, Happy Accidents, recorded by
Kurt Bloch (of the Fastbacks) at Egg Studios, has all the record
hounds chomping at the bit just like they did for their singles. 100
on color vinyl.

New Reatards release "Not Fucked Enough" coming out this month. There
will be 100 copies on pink vinyl. We are taking preorders for those
now.

Reatards - Not Fucked Enough LP/CD
With the fall of the Lost Sounds, Jay is back in business with the
Reatards. Started at the tender age of 16, the Reatards left a path of
broken disco balls and pissed off promoters across the US and Europe.
Here we have more tasty vintage Reatards recordings to complement last
years "Bedroom Disasters". This was the record the Reatards started
recording as thier second full length release. Recorded on a broken 4
track this was scrapped when a new lineup was realized with Rich
joining on drums and Sean (of The Feelers) on bass. Now the "lost
second record" is finally seeing the light of day. You might recognize
a few of these songs in different form from "Grown Up" or some of Jays
other projects but something about these recordings sounds as frantic
and urgent 6 years later as the day they were recorded. Frankly some
of the best stuff the Reatards have done. Hold on tight and watch for
a new record out early next year.

The Reatards will be doing a short US and longer European tour.

The Red Rose Girls CD is finally out.

Red Rose Girls
Self Titled
(MTR407)

Following in the old-time legacy of Portlands Old-Time stalwarts The
Dickel Brothers comes The Red Rose Girls. These three women are
already making a name for themselves on the scene belting out sweet
and dirty harmonies around town. These simple and fun traditional
recordings will please fans of the Carter Family, Doc Watson, etc. In
the custom of rural musical history of the 20s and 30s, they give you
no reverb, no mandolin, and no fake hillbilly accents just raw
acoustic guitars and intimate harmonies. They lay down strong rhythms
underneath the old songs that range from fierce and primal to trance-
like. As one fan put it, "The Red Rose Girls make people rock who
never knew they wanted to rock in the first place."

Snitches Get Stitches
I liked you better when you were a corpse(MTR406)

Colliding into the Pacific Northwest, SNITCHES GET STITCHES hail from
the other three corners of the country: heavy LA math meets NYC art
rock meets Miami Cuban punk. SGS are a nightmare meeting of
progressive hardcore and outsider politics, an abrasive mind meld of
full-on rock blowout and self-destructing punk rock. A
forward-thinking trio of lads with a vendetta against brain-dead pop
culture, this is a band willing to put themselves at risk with the
sonic chaos they create. What a mess this is! Dangerous, uneasy-a
blast. Tomorrow's world may not be better because of SGS, but tonight
will definitely be a lot more fun.

Reatards -Bedroom Disasters (mtr405)

Before the Lost Sounds there was the Reatards. For those too young to
remember, Jay was one pissed off 16 year old kid in 1996. Banned from
nearly every club they played, the Reatards were overdriven, loud,
and destructive. With crackling guitars underlaying Jay's southern
crooning howl, they produced some of the most amazing hate-filled
anthems ever. These songs are hand pick from the vast archives of
unreleased Reatards material. We refer to this as "the Goner Years"
as these encompass the time period 1996-99 while on Goner records.
These songs were recorded in Jay & Ryans (The Wongs, Digital Leather)
bedrooms, while stealing beers out of Ryan's dad's fridge between
songs. "These were recorded straight to cassette tape and mixed down
to a 70's stereo system". INCLUDES the long out of print "Get Real
Stupid", "Get Out Of Our Way", & "Solid Sex Lovedoll" singles.

----------------------------------------------
Saint Bushmills Choir
Self Titled CD
-----------------------------------
St Bushmill's Choir is a 7 piece Irish influenced punk band comparable
to Flogging Molly or Firewater, but with some distinct differences...
"The Choir" emerged from the Seattle peace-punk underground and claims
former members of The Gits, Subvert and The Pinkos. This self-titled
disc is the 14 song follow-up to the 2001 EP, "Give Em Enough Booze".
on Broken Records, The album was produced by Jack Endino of Nirvana
fame and captures the insane live energy of a Choir show. Unrelenting
punked-out Irish jigs and expert musicianship recalls The Pogues,
Stiff Little Fingers, or dare I say it, The Clash.

Out Now - MouseRocket CD/LP

Mouse Rocket, the newest project from Memphis art-core luminary,
Alicja Trout (Lost Sounds, Fitts, Destruction Unit)combines the native
intensity of the Lost Sounds with delicate and haunting pop
sensibilities reminiscent of Yo La Tengo's best work. Mouse Rocket's
debut is a record driven by a proto-punk engine but enslaved to a sad
and beautiful melody. Evocative and more accessible than past
projects, it paints with a loose hand the face of a culture eroding.
Poised between sterility and wildness, mouserocket spins, like an
unreliable oracle, pointing out visions more than directions and
revelling in the tension between the sweet and the stark.

------------------------------
VARIOUS MOUSE ROCKET REVIEWS
------------------------------

Memphis Flyer
Local Record Roundup
by Chris Herrington
... far more accessible is Water Recordings (self-released; Grade: B+)
, from Trout's other band, Mouse Rocket. With local notables such as
Ron Franklin and Big Ass Truck's Robby Grant and Robert Barnett
helping out, Mouse Rocket seems to be an outlet for material not
really suitable for the Lost Sounds, resulting in a sunnier, poppier
sound --more indie-rock and garage-rock --than anything you'll hear on
Rat's Brains.

Much of Water Recordings sounds pre-punk or proto-punk where Rat's
Brains is definitively post-punk, a quality made most explicit by its
two fabulous covers, one of Love's "Alone Again Or" from the band's
summer-of-love psychedelic classic Forever Changes, the other an
infectious reading of the Nuggets' nugget, "Little Black Egg," where
the head-bobbing guitar-and-drum interplay and Trout's sweetly
affectless vocals combine for one of the most enjoyable moments of
local music I've heard all year.

If there's a flaw here, it might be that the record peaks prematurely
with the swooningly catchy indie-rock opener "Missing Teeth" and the
seductive, keyboard-driven new wave of "Darkest Hour." Other than the
choice covers, nothing else on the record touches those two tracks,
though the instrumentally swaggering (and well-titled) "Flash and
Burn" and the straight-up rock-and-roll love song "Set On You" come
mighty close.

===========================================
Mouserocket -7 song demo houseofsmut

You'd think being in just one of the greatest bands the world has to
offer would be enough for most folks. Not so for Alicja Trout. Besides
being a member of the Lost Sounds, she's also doing time in this
phenomenal outfit, Mouserocket. Sure to appeal to Lost Sounds fans,
this material only bears a glancing similarity to that band. It's
definitely just as great, though.

From a sonic standpoint, Mouserocket could be considered vaguely
similar to the Lost Sounds--only in that both play a well-written,
sophisticated sounding kind of music which is often synth-driven.
However, while the Lost Sounds could be described as bleak,
Mouserocket illicits adjectives such as dreamy, spacey, and angular.
What's going on with Mouserocket would probably be considered more
indie sounding in its approach. Alicja's voice rarely slips into the
black metal style screamed vocals prominent on many Lost Sounds
tracks. Instead, her voice tends to stay in its natural range with
this material, slipping from time to time into an angelic sounding
falsetto. It all helps make the Mouserocket vibe a little more upbeat.

Now, this is not to say there aren't Mouserocket tracks which will
appeal to Lost Sounds fans--in fact, it all should be easy to embrace.
This is especially true of the songs "Over-Analytic" and "Walking
Lizard," both of which see Alicja slipping into the aforementioned
screamed vocal style. That's only a small part of what this material
is all about, though. There are songs like "Little Black Egg" which
are almost vintage sounding in nature, from a songwriting
standpoint--this particular song being strangely reminiscent of the
One Way Streets track "We All Love Peanut Butter" off the first Back
From The Grave compilation. However, tunes like "Song of Glass" really
capture the essence of Mouerocket--warm and hypnotic beyond words.

===========================================

Mouserocket - Water Recordings (demos)
houseofsmut

It's quite a feat to improve on greatness. Listening to the newest
Mouserocket demo, Water Recordings, you'd never know it, though--they
do so with such seeming ease. Over the course of fifteen tracks,
Mouserocket further assert that they must be considered one of the
most exciting and original bands known to mankind.

With Water Recordings, Mouserocket's style remains the same as on
their previous demo. For the most part, this is synth-ified pop with
an indie edge and is without equal. This music is at once fluid and
fractured--reminiscent of past sounds, yet totally fresh. On paper, it
looks contradictory but, to the ear, it's sonic prefection which makes
perfect sense. The key difference in this demo from the last is an
enhanced sound quality. Basically, what this means is that everything
which was great before is even better now--subtle synth parts and
other auxilliary instrumentation are now audible in mix, making
already superbly textured songs jump out of the speakers with a
lushness and sophistication that leaves you breathless.

This being said, a slew of new songs included with the reworked tracks
ensure more to look forward to than just nicer production values when
it comes to Water Recordings. There are several short instrumentals
throughout this collection which are extremely nice, the highlight of
which being the Thinking Fellers Union-esque "Night Stretcher." As far
as vocal material, the best of the new songs has to be the lead-off
track, "Missing Teeth." Absolutely perfect in every conceivable way,
this song will burrow its way into your consiousness and refuse to let
go--extra class points given here thanks to the inclusion of some
flawlessly understated cello work. Water Recordings also benefits from
the inclusion of "Darkest Hour"--one of Mouserocket's best songs, left
sorely missing from the last demo. It's a synth-driven beauty of a
song featuring Alicja's voice in its more subdued, dreamy sounding
range.

It's hard to believe things could get much better than the previous
Mouserocket demo (review here), but they have with Water Recordings.
This is music of rare excellence. Someone really needs to get on the
ball and properly release these recordings because people deserve a
chance to hear this band. In fact, as special as Mouserocket are, it's
a matter of utmost importance.

OUT NOW!

REALLY RED - Teaching You The Fear CD/LP

The explosive and turbulent Texas of the late 70s produced a wealth of
great hardcore with the likes of the Dicks and the Big Boys. Right up
there was Houston's Really Red spitting out their own brand of
political hardcore. This is their debut release and a long out of
print gem. We are super proud to be able to bring this classic Texas
punk record back to light for a new generation of punks raised in the
anti-political scene of 90's easily digestible mass-market punk.
Politically relevant as it was in 1980, this is truly one of America's
greatest hardcore bands.

increasingly inflexible, form. Teaching You The Fear was a litmus
test for punks. If you dug Really Red, chances are you were smart and
cool. If you didn't, you were a sheep, a chump or a chump sheep.

Really Red was one of the very few bands that dealt with politics in a
meaningful way. They didn't just yell a bunch of cheap slogans. They
never talked down to their audience. Most importantly, they knew what
the hell they were talking about. This was a huge contrast to the
generic "political" hardcore bands highly touted by the likes of
Maximum Rock 'n' Roll. The band's righteous anger was infectious. At
least it infected me.

I'll never understand why Really Red wasn't huge in the same way Black
Flag and the Dead Kennedys were (or at least better known than
schmucks like MDC or Suicidal Tendencies). They were worshipped by my
small circle of friends. My first band, Mr Epp, got to open for them
once when they came to Seattle. We felt like we'd made it. It was a
great show. We finally got to see Really Red and they were on fire!
I love Really Red."

Steven Blush (American Hardcore):
"A small scene did evolve out of the powerful shows and records of
Houston's premiere HC-era band, Really Red -started in '79 by fiery
front man Ronnie Bond; a.k.a. U-Ron Bondage. On their own CIA imprint
they issued some amazing vinyl, like '81's LP Teaching You The Fear
and '82's EP New Strings for Old Puppets,. Really Reds Spot on Let
them eat jellybeans led many to compare Bond to Jello Biafra - though
Ronnie could caustically question authority without whining." (from
American Hardcore

King Koffee (Butthole Surfers):
"Talk about overlooked bands - Really Red left behind some great
records, but the memory of their live show is still vivid. Had they
only toured more they'd be considered legendary. They took a strong
political stance yet were able to pull it off. Unlike MDC who were
overly preachy, Really Red had amazing anthems - Ronnie Bond'd just
scream for all he was worth. It wasn't typical Left Wing propaganda.
Seeing Really Red in Houston, where they were really popular, was very
moving, powerful stuff. They were great -they made sense to me."
(from American Hardcore)
______________________________________

Yet another underappreciated Tex-ass band, Really Red's first LP is
utterly mind blowing from start to finish. Their songs follow no
convention, boiling in the same musical melting pot where the
Minutemen and early Wire swam. The vocals often call to mind D. Boon,
who also could convey fierce emotion whether he was singing or
shouting, joking or railing. The music, jerky and disjointed but also
almost infectiously danceable, also follows the Minutemen formula of
jangly guitar, heavy-bottomed bass, and expressive drumming. Almost
every song is a highlight here, with anthems like "Too Political?" and
"Run 'Em Out" providing ample shout-along lines. The title track, with
its menacingly anxious bass line and shakily spoken lyrics "Take one
chicano with his hands cuffed behind his back..." is one of the most
haunting political punk songs ever written. When it explodes into the
chorus and Ronnie spits out "Teaching you the feeee-aaaar!" it really
is a revelation. Likewise, the song "Starvation Dance" drives its
point home not through the grotesque, graphic descriptions of third
world misery in each verse, but during the maddening, idiotic chant of
"Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance to starvation" sung
over the catchy, upbeat chorus. My favorite tune is the more ambiguous
"Aim Tastes Good," which calls to mind the fragmentary poetry of the
first Gang of Four and Proletariat records. Another link between all
the bands I've mentioned is that Really Red are goddamned smart.
Intelligence is what holds this record together through political
rants, strange episodic hardcore tunes, and an ode to Nico that seems
to be dead serious. This is what pop music will sound like after the
revolution. -JT (Kill From The Heart

"Really Red were really overlooked - I don't know how people don't
seem to know about them. Their Albums were great, they were produced
well. All in all, they were fucking incredible." (from American Hardcore)

Really Red
Teaching You The Fear
(MTR402)

The explosive and turbulent Texas of the late 70s produced a wealth of
great hardcore with the likes of the Dicks and the Big Boys, Right up
there was Houston's Really Red spitting out their own brand of
political hardcore. This, their debut release and long out of print,
inspired "Kill from the Heart" to write:

"Really Red's first LP is utterly mind blowing from start to finish.

Self-Destruction of a Man LP/CD (MTR401)

All it takes is one. One man/woman/human can shatter your world.
Destruction Unit is that one. Developed by Ryan Wong in the Arizona
desert sometime in the past, the Unit unleashed the "My Disease"
recording on Discos Cagados. The out-of-control beat met with
electronic keys, a deafening guitar and damaged vocals that wanted
you
dead. A series of live performances were also carried out. Then,
Phoenix met Memphis. Jay of Lost Sounds had shared wounds and scars
with Ryan during the rise of the Reatards. Naturally, Jay and Alicja
of Lost Sounds latched on to the thud that was breeding in Arizona.
Lost Sounds released tastes of things to come with "Do You Wanna Kill
Me" and "Let's Lie" sometime in the present. Fueled by an unknown
disease that mutates in the sun, Destruction Unit prepares for more.
Ryan, Jay and Alicja will deliver new damage sometime in the future
(Jan 2004) on Empty Records. So, stay in the shadows. Go out at
night.
Destruction Unit is coming. And it wants you dead.

The Solger CD is finally finished. You can get it now from us or it
should be in stores in about two weeks. There also a few copies of the
LP left (pressing of 100)

www.emptyrecords.com/empty/releases/record_detail.asp?intRecordId=211

Solger Bio:
Seattle and the Pacific Northwest had a rich punk rock heritage prior
to 1980, with the likes of nationally known early punk bands such the
Lewd, the Dils, the Mentors, the Tupperwares (later the Screamers),
and the Telepaths (pre-Blackouts/Ministry). There was also a handful
of local unknown bands, mostly from the University District that
played a more upbeat garage-style punk. That was until the band Solger
was formed in June of 1980.

Unlike most other bands, none of the members knew each other before
came together in 1980. Kyle Nixon sang "Nervous Breakdown" with Black
Flag in February during their first tour of Seattle, and was looking
to start a hardcore punk band of his own. Paul Dana, who had just
turned 15, place an ad in a local paper looking for a punk singer.
They met and started with two songs Paul wrote "American Youth" and
Dead Soldier" before finding bassist Doug Rockness through a
girlfriend. Tor Midtskog joined Solger because he liked the "Dead
Soldier needs a drummer" flyer they had posted inside the Showbox
Theatre. Within a month they played their first gig with only five
songs, marking Seattle's birth as a hardcore punk rock town. A short
lived six months and six shows later the band called it quits before
the years end. And they would have been forgotten had they not
recorded a rather raw and powerful record in their wake. This
collection presents and documents Solger's place in Seattle's hardcore
punk rock past. This is the complete recorded works digitally
remastered by legendary producer Jack Endino including their last show
in November of 1980. Un-remastered single aslo included. (LP version
limited to 99 copies)

Paul Solger went on to play in the Fartz, DTz, Fags, & Ten Minute
Warning and worked with Mark Lanegan and Jane County. He also co-wrote
Green River's Rehab Doll.

Lost Sounds
Rats Brains & Microchips
(MTR397)

With their third full length, Memphis' LOST SOUNDS have added
"Malevolent Metalese" to an already crowded linguistic repertoire
that included "Sick Sike" and "Dystopian Darkwave." The opening
track, "Remote Control", bursts forth like a Boris barbarian drawing
come to life - its axe nothing more than a blur of silver and red
carving your brain into an unimaginably obscene topiary. And there is
no loss of momentum as the LOST SOUNDS continuously fire sonic
salvos: tales of post- apocalyptic morbidity and the urban enervation
of our current grim age.

With feet planted firmly in the synth-heavy, rooster do'd pop of
yesterwave, they strain with sinewy arms toward a dark tomorrow. They
sing of a future in which one's humanity is an expendable luxury and
where the reserves of government- issued Paxil are running
dangerously low. With these metal- laced prophecies of Orwellian
technocracies, the altered cerebella of rodents, and the necropolises
of forgotten automatons, the question is not "Who will prevail in
this joyless scenario?" but "Which side are the LOST SOUNDS on?"

Gloryholes
-------------------
Knock You Up CD/LP
(MTR395)

Doug White of Seattle's legendary The Sinister Six is fronting a new band c=
hock full of driving guitars, thundering rhythms, and wild careening vocals!=
As put so well in Vinyl A- go-go, "The Gloryholes are snottified, blasted o=
ut, amped up, garage-ripped rock and roll with a squelching, caterwauling le=
ad vocalist and ear bashing, lo-fi, screeching guitar attack." The LP was pr=
oduced by Tim Kerr (Lord High Fixers, Monkey Wrench, etc..) and Jack Endino =
(Nirvana, etc..) and brings their self destructive show to vinyl.

-------------------------
Rotten Apples
------------------------
Real Tuff CD
(MTR396)

Real Tuff by the Rotten Apples is all that! A Rock & Roll mix of Wave and S=
oul. This all female band brings you 10 rockin' songs of heartache, frustrat=
ion about female stereotypes, road rage and the status quo. With ex- members=
of The Pin-ups and The Amazombies, This melodic punk four piece would surpa=
ss Dusty Springfield if the Muffs had been her backing band.

The Midnight Thunder Express have exploded like a runaway freight train leaping
off the tracks. This hard working five piece came out of the gates running,
forming mere months ago from the ashes of Seattle stalwarts the Valentine
Killers and other less notables. Twin guitar madness courtesy of Stu Miller's
Chuck Berry rhythm style mixing perfectly with Brian's scorching leads, a one
two punch indeed. This while Willie sings about dirty women, good times had, and
those unshakeable blues. The solid bottom end is the glue that holds the Express
together, Scott's masterful bass lines falling right in place with Jimmy Flame's
heavy hitting drum style.

Their debut self titled debut full-length (with the legendary Jack Endino at the
helm) is 10 songs of pure rock 'n roll power. Imagine the swagger of the New
York Dolls, T Rex, and '70s Stones poured on top of heavy rock a la AC/DC or the
MC5.
