Guitarist Lou St. Paul of the long-running Ohio
metallers WINTERS BANE has released the following
statement:
"There have been rumors of Tim 'Ripper' Owens (BEYOND
FEAR, ICED EARTH, and ex-JUDAS PRIEST) singing on next
WINTERS BANE album. I wanted to let everyone know
exactly what's going on.
"Tim and I have been talking for some time, off and
on, about recording a sequel to 'Heart of a Killer',
our 1993 release. In the last month or so, Tim and I
both agreed that if the right conditions were met,
like the right label, contract, tour support and other
details, we would put forth our best effort, making,
of course, another 'Killer' album, and do a major
tour. At this point Wendy Dio (Niji Management) is
still accepting offers from labels and will continue
to do so until the beginning of next year.
"We've had some ideas for the making the follow-up for
some time. We have both been busy in other projects
and until recently have been fortunate enough cross
paths again. So keep your fingers crossed and you
might have another WINTERS BANE/Ripper album in 2008."

ICED EARTH Frontman To Guest On 'Maximum Threshold' Tomorrow

ICED EARTH/ex-JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim "Ripper" Owens
will guest on the "Maximum Threshold" show on
Saturday, December 8. Also scheduled to appear is
original AC/DC frontman Dave Evans
"Maximum Threshold" is an Internet radio show
dedicated to presenting up-and-coming hard rock bands
and successful bands as well as interviews, news and
music reviews.
To hear the program, go to MaximumThreshold.net
beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST. A live video stream will
be available on the front page of the web site.
According to a posting on ICED EARTH's official web
site, the band is planning on hitting the road in the
U.S. in March/April 2008, to be followed by tours in
Australia, Canada, Japan and Russia, among other
countries. More details will be announced soon.
ICED EARTH's new album, "Framing Armageddon -
Something Wicked Part I", sold 7,800 copies in the
United States in its first week of release to debut at
position No. 78 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD is
the follow-up to 2004's "The Glorious Burden", which
has shifted more than 70,000 copies in the U.S. to
date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

ICED EARTH mainman/guitarist Jon Schaffer has issued
the following statement:
"Hello, dear friends!
"Once again the winds of change are upon us, and this
time I can say that I am very happy about the result.
"While out on the European tour I had several in depth
discussions with many loyal ICED EARTH fans. A common
theme of these discussions was how much Matt is
missed. I agreed with the fans that things were not
the same and that it was a very special period in ICED
EARTH's history.
"When I heard several months ago that Matt [Barlow]
was going to be doing a project in music again, I was
thinking about contacting him and seeing what his
intentions were. I didn't act on this because I was so
focused on the writing of the new epic, and frankly,
it just didn't seem realistic.
"Well, after getting out on the road and speaking with
many of you directly, I decided to call Matt and see
how he was doing and if he was interested in working
together again. I am proud to say that he is coming
back to ICED EARTH and we will be getting back to work
in the studio very soon.
"Matt will be singing on Part 2 of the 'Something
Wicked' concept CD and we will be looking forward to
getting out on tour and delivering a series of ICED
EARTH shows that will rival any in the history of the
band. And there will be a proper DVD filmed from this
period, something we've all been waiting for.
"I want you all to know that it was you who made this
a reality. I have missed Matt's presence onstage and
in my personal life in a big way over the past few
years, so I appreciate your honesty in our
discussions. It did help me realize the decision to
move forward with pursuing this. The fans have spoken
and we have delivered!
"You true fans know that I'm a straight shooter, I say
what I mean and mean what I say. And though I value
your opinions greatly, you must believe that this is a
decision that comes completely from the heart and is
not motivated by anything other than what feels the
best for ICED EARTH. This is the way that things have
always been dealt with, for better or for worse, but
always honestly and from the heart.
"Tim Owens is a great and talented singer and I wish
the best for him and his future on a personal and
professional level.
"There will be more news soon as to further
developments and plans. This will push back the
release of Part 2 a bit. Not because we couldn't be
ready to record in time, but because of a new addition
to Matt's family in early 2008!
"I am very happy to announce that ICED EARTH is truly
BACK!"

Returning ICED EARTH Singer MATT BARLOW Still In PYRAMAZE

Vocalist Matt Barlow, who has just rejoined ICED
EARTH, will remain a member of the Danish metal band
PYRAMAZE, according to the latter band's keyboardist
Jonah Weingarten.
PYRAMAZE entered the studio on October 1 in Haderslev,
Denmark to begin recording the follow-up to to "Legend
of the Bone Carver".
Barlow joined PYRAMAZE as the replacement for Lance
King who left the band in November 2006.
The group's third album is tentatively due next
spring.
PYRAMAZE's latest CD, "Legend of the Bone Carver", was
released last year via Massacre Records (Europe) and
Nightmare Records (USA and Canada).
