Hello Chris,
I'm playing an Azola Minibass for a couple of years now and it came with
a gigbag from Azola.
I must say their service was good when i bought it.
Anyway, here is a company that possibly could make a gigbag for you:
http://www.muzip.nl/default.aspx
It is close to Eindhoven, The Netherlands, very close to where i live.
Since i live in the Netherlands i live close to where you live because
our country is not that big ;-)
I still need to visit that company for a loudspeaker-cabinet-bag which
they also make, a has alsready good experience with their cabinet-bags.
Their most successful product is the bag for percussion instruments
which they ship all over the world.
Let me know how things go,
regards,
Martin

Levy's makes lots of bags and other stuff.
They're based in Canada, but are distributed in the Netherlands.

As Jon suggested you may want to check the keyboard bags.
My Carruthers EUB gig bag was made by Levy's, but it came with the
instrument.
It was probably a custom order from Carruthers.
Good luck!

I had reasonably good luck with Mooradian; they made me a
nice custom case for my stick-like EUB. I wish it were a bit
sturdier and that it had a bit denser foam but it does the
job well.
However I was able to go to their Boston office with my EUB
so it might be harder for you! BTW, once they realized how
stick-like my bass is, they realized they could basically do
a variant of their keyboard case which saved me a little money.

Hi everyone
I've been playing an Azola Lightning Bug for over three years now. It came with
an excellent flightcase, but I'd like to get a gig bag also - it's easier on
trips through the jungle, spy missions etc. (Just kidding) Azola offers a gig
bag with room for the bass and the stand, but after two years of trying to order
one, I'm officially Giving Up - they must be too busy selling basses to get back
to me.
So my question is; where do I go to have a custom gig bag made? I'm in
Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I talked to bass players and stores, and they don't
know.
Thanks for your help

I use a German bow with EUB in my local pit gigs. The basses I've had (2
Azolas and one BSX) all tended to lack sufficient arch to the bridge for
bowing. Probably because they are mainly used for pizz. I reshaped the
bridges on the Azolas and that helped- can't do it on the BSX so it's more
difficult playing. Can be done but it takes more care.

Almost any bow should do if the angles of the bridge are sufficient.
That can be a problem with some EUBs and with upright basses as well
if the bridge and possibly even the fingerboard do not have
sufficient angles to allow sufficient clearance from adjacent strings.
You may wish to take a straightedge and observe the range of the
angles from string to string to determine if the angles around the A
string have sufficient clearance. The other questions I must ask are,
what do you mean by " I tried to adjust the Instrument to fit the
bow." and also about the tension of the hair on the bow-- how tight is it? Bob

One of the challenges EUB makers face is making their basses
stable while being played. I wonder if it's hard to hold
that bass still while bowing. What I do with my Jensen is
play it more like a cello, close to my body, and that works
pretty well for me. (But I also play my AUB that way too!)
If keeping it still is the problem, you may want to try
different positions and readjusting the hardware if that's
possible, or maybe a stand.
I use a French bow because I play cello too but I don't
think the bass much cares whether the bow is French or
German; that's more about what you like.
I have never even tried a cello bow with my EUB or AUB but
now I'm curious! I'm guessing it would be pretty hard to put
enough energy into the string with a cello bow.
BTW, I just bought a new braided carbon fiber bow from
http://www.youbow.com. It's a nice bow and cost about $100.
They don't seem to have that one in stock but maybe some
others are good too.
I am doing what I was taught on upright bass with the EUB. The A and E string
keep on sound together. I tried to adjust the Instrument to fit the bow. I
understand from my readings that some EUB does not work well with a bow.
What I have is found on this link,
http://www.staggmusic.com/products/products_sscat.php?catid=46&langue=uk
Does it look like it would work with a German Bow.
