Matt just told me about exp-music-invite, so I thought
I'd pass on the invitation to the 5th Annual Transbay
Skronkathon BBQ. For this annual event (a benefit
for the Transbay Creative Music Calendar) we set up
a few BBQ grills outside the venue, invite people to
drop by, grill some food, hang out & listen to the
music. This year the Skronkathon will be at 21 Grand
in Oakland, CA on Sunday, August 14. Here's the

Oh no! Here it comes again!

THE 5rd ANNUAL TRANSBAY SKRONKATHON BBQ

Once again, we're trying to get this going at the last minute:

ACME Observatory and the Transbay Calendar are planning to
present yet another all-day creative music and BBQ marathon,
this time at the 21 Grand gallery on Sunday, August 14, 2005.
It'll be music all day inside the gallery and grillin' & chillin'
in the alleyway outside.

As usual it's a free event. We'll take donations for the benefit
of the Transbay Creative Music Calendar, but unfortunately there's no
money in the kitty to pay musicians (or anyone else for that matter.)

If it's like previous years it'll be a great day of hanging out
with a whole lot of like-minded people, listening to a bunch of
music you might not otherwise get to hear, and generally enjoying
a sunny summer Sunday.

So, we're looking for volunteers to play (and volunteers to
help out, see below.) If you make music that defies labels,
breaks categories, confounds expectations, raises eyebrows,
provokes debate or just sounds weird, we want to hear from you.

If you are interested in performing please email td@... and
include the following information:

+ group and performers name
+ description of your music
+ how long you'd like to play for (minimum and maximum, please.)
+ range of preferred start times.

We want to present as many performers as possible, so please don't
propose playing in more than one group during the BBQ.

Although there is a PA, there will be minimal setup time, so please
keep in mind sound check will be "on the fly". It is a small space --
"unplugged" is an option to seriously consider...

Once we get an idea of the submissions, we'll try to put together
a logical schedule...
