Hi – thanks for your reply... I tried to sign up at the site itself, but I guess hat didn’t work since I have received nothing since then...
So Here’s an email to join the group...whatever “join” means.
“meanwhile” -- on February 5, Butch Morris will conduct an Improv:21 event for Rova:Arts. At this informance, he speaks to / with Derk Richardson and the audience about his system of composing/improvising called “Conduction.” To help him demonstrate the system, he is looking for 8 string players. well: 6 to 8. Our budget being what it is, Rova can’t afford to pay anything more than “expenses.” So we’re offering $25 per musician which ought to cover travel. Local musicians only please (Bay Area).
The informance takes place at 7 PM at SFPALM in San Francisco. That’s the Veterans Building,>> 4th floor<<, right near to the Opera House, and within which is housed Herbst Theater; a short walk from BART, and there is municipal parking 1.5 blocks away. The string players need to arrive by 6 PM
Whoever comes will be happy they did; this is the guy, along with Zorn, who really started insisting on cues and conducting improvisers. His “thing” is different from what we’re all up to out here. Worthy of consideration for sure.
