Hello,
Looks like the Monday Sept. 15 Hoot at the Ivy Room in Albany is going
to be a....hoot.
There is *one more* 20 minute curate slot available if anyone wants
it. You curate a slot by deciding what happens/who plays in that slot
and you either bring people or grab 'em from the crowd.
The featured act is the quartet of Ross Hammond, John Hanes, Phillip
Greenlief and Lisa Mezzacappa. We've got a boat load of great people
curating slots and/or just showing up to hang or play (Mark Growden,
Laurie Amat, Mark Briggs, Herb Heinz, Craig Lotta, Jeff Hobbs, Michael
Zbyszynski, etc) and Lucifer Meltdown (me) will DJ some crazy outside
music between sets. There will be two 'after midnight' open slots that
will remain open to whatever happens. If last time was any indication,
those were really fun and wild.
As a reminder, we are purposefully bringing together a few different
scenes to create some crazy noise, so no one style of music is
preferred over the other, but the idea is improvisation, collaboration
and experimental music. One set from last time had a DJ, a guy
knocking out some crazy guitar/vocals, a sax and some drums/noise.
Reminded me of some kind of 6am Berlin bar scene from 'Wings of Desire.'
I'll be sending out another email to confirm details with curators.
Please feel free to forward this to others and/or contact me.
Thanks,
-lucio
