Hi everyone,
I have an upcoming show at the Luggage Store, which is a "Drone
Shift". Rather than having separate sets, the entire evening will be a
2 hour drone. The date is October 30th, from 8-10pm.
I'm looking for a total of 15-18 musicians, and I'm currently up to
12. Everyone will play for up to 30 minutes. In past incarnations, I
scheduled everyone's shift down to the 5 minute mark. This time I'm
macro-managing -everyone should bring some sort of stop watch. It's up
to you when you play, play 30 minutes in one sitting, or punch
yourself in/out with the stop watch.
So, looking for a few more people to play - but here's the important
part - IT'S DRONE MUSIC! The intention is to range from quiet
lowercase tones to overpowering Phill Niblock stuff. However skronky
showboating and squelchy harsh noise are not what I'm after. Don't
sign up for this one if you'll be bored playing the same note for
minutes at a time.
Please do plan to bring your own amplifier if you need one - I think
ensemble pieces work better when the sound is localized to the
musician.
Regarding the stopwatch, it's good if it's silent, but should be
quietish if not. I figure the occasional watch beep may be an
acceptable artifact. Kitchen timers are certainly too loud. Your
cellphone may have a stopwatch you can silence.
Interested in participating? Drop me a line, and tell me what
instrument you're playing.
